I remember in gnomergan I was running it on an alt hunter character during wrath. I dismissed my pet before the big jump down. The warlock didn't and was running her blueberry as well. Just as you said that stupid voidwalker ran the long way around pulling every MOB in sight onto the group. Tank says"Kick the hunter they didnt dismiss their voidwalker". Next thing I saw was YOU HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE PARTY. For those that never played WoW the Voidwalker is a Warlock pet not a hunter pet.

Quite literally, if they followed the no 3rd party tools that change gameplay that is espoused in the ToS, they'd have to scan the personal computer and prohibited largely innocent programs. No Razer or Logitech programs, no VPNs to help your ping, Discord even falls into this category. Hell, Yoshi even reasons out that Excel could be considered a 3rd party tool as well. Their stance remains a No to 3rd party addons, but if you get in trouble for using them you likely are in trouble for something much more damning.

Discord is still third party software and all third party software is against TOS. Sorry.



Parsers only read the combat log, something you could theoretically do yourself. No game files are being touched. Voice chat impacts the game far more than parsing however. It is so much easier to call the starfall mechanic on one of the latest ex trials over voice chat than it would be through ingame chat.

You have to really go out of your way to take the "no third party" thing to an extreme degree to call using voice chat a break of the ToS though. I mean if any company actually decided to start banning people for using teamspeak or whatever that'd be, I mean for one hilarious, but also incredibly stupid.

This is veering wildly off topic lol, I was mostly just curious when/why that would've been said, but it does seem more like a "yeah it's very very 'technically' not allowed but also we're not going to do anything about it because then we'd have to disallow literally everything beyond the point of reason" kind of thing.

The only people who cry about people using parses are bad parsers. You are mad because they won't invite you if your logs are bad to a PARSE run. Novody wants to get trapped by someone who cannot play their own job.

As long as they aren't putting people on the spot and calling them out it doesn't effect you, or hurt you get over it.

Exactly, you need to look deeper than just what the TOS say word for word. I wish more people realized that and didnt just go 'TOS say so, it must be the ultimate truth' everytime it suits their point but drop it asap when that logic gets flipped on them.

It’s just math. Log shows when the dot was applied. The the numbers do the rest.

DoT data isn't attributed to you, and thus won't be included by default in *your* Battle Log, but it is included among effects enemies suffer, iirc.

No one in their right mind is going to parse anything beneath EX trials. Parsing just isn't for casual content and is not used for casual content as we all well know.

Parsers aren't the problem. It's using a parser to belittle someone else that is a problem.

1) SE cannot tell you are running a Parser. They cannot see what is running on your PC.
2) Running the parser for personal use, and thus not communicating its data to anyone in game, is violating nothing.
3) Using said data to belittle, harass, or "expose" someone's bad play IS the violation. At that point, because of the outburst, SE will know you are running the parser. Even so, the reason you will most likely receive a ban in this case is for HARASSMENT, not for running the parser.

Honestly, this logic is not that hard to understand.

TLDR: Don't use numbers in game to belittle someone else. Don't be mean to other players. Is it hard to be a quality human being?

As a corollary, try not to belittle other players out of game either. Just as lewd screen shots on a social platform that can be traced back to a player's account may get them in trouble if reported, complaining about a specific player by name while using output from a parser while in a Discord that isn't just fifteen friends may result in similar trouble, especially if it results in other players becoming toxic to the named player.
