After Goobbue mount - do we need other mounts than a choco?

If I didn't take things seriously and assumed everyone had an ulterior motive when they posted (i.e. trolling), then I would walk away from every argument thinking that I caught on to their tricks. There would be no point to me trying to defend or attack any position, idea, or saying; and everyone would walk way with nothing gained.

If you don't take things seriously or think that people don't really believe what they're posting, then why even bother coming here?

By the way, you never properly told me how this game is any less of a clone than typical "WOW clones".

It should be a FF1-13 clone if anything. Ya know Final Fantasy, ever heard of it? Play it? It should stick to its roots, not other games.

Yeah, the original FFXIV stuck to its roots so hard, it shipped 600k units and ended up with 20k subscribers.

I assume you to be kidding.

However to those who genuinely hold this opinion, I love story and immersion. I am quite a follower of the story of Eorzea. I have even gone through the story of ancient Eorzea and Hydaelyn trying to compile what few tid-bits I could get from the npcs about our world. The traveling minstrel that gives the horn to summon the goobbue gives a meaningful background of how these creatures (that already existed in our world - and have been at times tamed [see Ul'dah's opening CS]) could be summoned in a way that wasn't calling for too much of a suspension of disbelief.

Thus, with the plausibility factor created into the story by the game designers (the ones who create the world we get immersed in) we have no excuse but to accept the goobbue. Any reasoning about immersion is fallicious, and has more to do with your personal opinions that you simply think they are ugly mobs, and aesthetics is deeply subjective and no basis for an inclusion argument.

Anyways I got a simple solution to everyone that is complaining about the gobbue mount. Dont click on the freaking horn... If you don't like watching others on the gobbue then you basically want them to play the game the way you want because it pleases you. Either way if you can't stop complaning then do me and yourself a favor, uninstall the game, go outside and tell someone IRL they cant drive that Mercedes because it ruins you lolImmersion.

I'm sure for many players, they could care less how other people choose to play their game. But, when how other people play the game somehow impedes the way another is experiencing it, it is unnecessarily intrusive if not downright aggravating depending on the situation.

I just got my Weaver to 30 this weekend and got my Goobbue mount. This is my first mount in FFXIV, since my husband and I haven't finished the Chocobo quest yet. In a time when cynicism about this game runs high, it was really nice to giggle with delight while riding it.

Yes, I think having mount options is a good thing. Maybe I've been spoiled by the other MMOs I've played since FFXI, but I would now get sick of having nothing else to ride but a chocobo all the time.

I'm not saying we need the 100+ mounts that WoW has (see here), but eventually having 10 or so to choose from would make for some nice variety.

That's how they keep the completionist/OCD crowd, by giving them never-ending tasks. Can't say it doesn't work. I do love an achievement system.

I use my mounts for different purposes. DoW and DoM, I ride on my chocobo. DoH and DoL, I ride on my goobbue.
