After Goobbue mount - do we need other mounts than a choco?

Personally, I am a great Chocobo enthusiast and breed/raced them a lot in FFXI so I will always be happy with just my Chocobo.

But other people love different mounts! Who knows, maybe one day we will have areas accessible only by certain mounts... or a Gold Chocobo... which I will breed out even if I have to inbreed every bird in Eorzea! http://www.vgcats.com/comics/images/031027.jpg

However to those who genuinely hold this opinion, I love story and immersion. I am quite a follower of the story of Eorzea. I have even gone through the story of ancient Eorzea and Hydaelyn trying to compile what few tid-bits I could get from the npcs about our world. The traveling minstrel that gives the horn to summon the goobbue gives a meaningful background of how these creatures (that already existed in our world - and have been at times tamed [see Ul'dah's opening CS]) could be summoned in a way that wasn't calling for too much of a suspension of disbelief.

Thus, with the plausibility factor created into the story by the game designers (the ones who create the world we get immersed in) we have no excuse but to accept the goobbue. Any reasoning about immersion is fallicious, and has more to do with your personal opinions that you simply think they are ugly mobs, and aesthetics is deeply subjective and no basis for an inclusion argument.

Having many mounts doesnt destroy anything, I hope that they will give us millions of mounts just because more is always better.

Explain what portion of either of my posts deserves treatment of this kind? I certainly havent said anything offensive to you at all Wolfie, I merely dissagree with your point of view, as you do mine. Believe it or not, there is in fact a way to discuss things you dont agree with without coming off like an asshole, but clearly while you were busy learning about game development and micromanaging small teams as part of a larger project, you didnt have any time to learn how to be a decent person to others instead of a raging assclown.

I have nights that are worse than others, and I apologize for the insults. However, when people talk about things that they don't know anything about with false authority, it's a huge pet peeve of mine.

Since you know so much about this particular topic though, might I ask what particular degree you hold in managment or game development? I ask in all seriousness, not as a means of being confrontational. If you have legitimate experience in these fields, I would be more than willing to overlook my suspicion that your merely talking out of your ass as a means of trying to look cool.

I have a degree in comp. sci. and several years under my belt as a developer and manager. I'm currently working as a developer and manager. Granted, it's not for an actual game development firm, but the projects that I do oversee and develop are about as large as flagship titles (and MMOs in particular because of the product's long life span, post-release support, maintenance, etc.).

Also, you are correct, I know nothing about how SE runs its operations, as I am sure you dont either since neither of us have ever worked for them. However, I am 100% sure that someone wasted a bunch of time making these mounts a reality, and in my OPINION (key word there), they could have put that time to better use doing virtually anything else. (thumb twiddeling included).

But you don't realize that your uneducated opinions are dangerous, because SE does read these forums, and they do sometimes make mistakes that they wouldn't have otherwise made because vocal, uneducated people keep running their mouths without thinking first. Look at the s**tfest that's server migrations right now.

I also can't take you seriously when you come out and basically say "yeah it's just my opinion and I don't know what I'm talking about, but HERE IT IS." Do you seriously not care that what you're saying is stupid, or at best, just plain wrong?

How are Goobbues not very Final Fantasy like? They've appeared in two games so far and we ride them in one. What makes Magitek armor, a wind drake, gargant, a shoopuf, a dragon more FF like?

Think of it this way:

Breeding different breeds (colors) of chocobos to do different things is a lot more FF like than 1,000,000 mounts that does the same thing. They can do a lot more with the chocobo system than cave in to the people who wants a ton of mounts for the sake of it. Funny enough, people want something like "mount only accessible areas"...wasn't that exactly why you bred different chocobos in FFVII and IX...yet people are against that but rather have different mounts that does that.

It kind of proves a point people are more looking at this as a MMO they want to be exactly like every other MMO you've played the past decade, rather than a FF game that happens to be an MMO.

That we are, I'm definitely off to kill Kefka for the 14th time and I just got finished beating Cloud of Darkness to a pulp with my LS...oh wait.
