and it really sucks. Coming from WoW, I was so happy to hear (what was now obviously a lie) this game had no addons. Oh well.Unfortunately, the social scene in this community has changed quite a bit. Parsers are gaining more acceptance along with FFLogs. Plugins are seamlessly integrated into the game with Dalamud, and FFLogs has become an insurmountable community staple in the raiding scene. Streamers and the influx of raiders from World of Warcraft have promoted these new additions, and so people are more brazen than ever. To them, plugins and parsers aren’t the forbidden fruit, they’re normal. They’re what FFXIV is supposed to be about. The game is just changing, and until Square Enix puts a stop to it (removing the battle log would be a quick solution), it will continue by the will of the players.
Please explain to me how a glorified calculator does anything other than calculate numbers and spit them back out at you in an easily discernible format that let's you understand exactly how much damage you're doing and areas you need to improve in.
I hate parse junkies that will force a wipe in what should be a farm party and talks down to others as much as the next guy, but y'all try your hardest to demonize parsers as a whole.
Fatherless behavior imo.
I keep hearing of this Dalamud. What is it ?Unfortunately, the social scene in this community has changed quite a bit. Parsers are gaining more acceptance along with FFLogs. A sprout was bashing a tank's dps from his meters in Crystal Tower once, I wonder how long he was banned for lol. He quickly learned this ain't WoW![]()
I mean just keep reporting them. They will be made an example out of.
Dalamud is simple little program you download for FFXIV. It has dozens if not hundreds of addons that do various things for the game, by modifying its code. Some as simple as letting you get a quicker launcher. Many things, far more ominous that I wont post here.
They shouldn't be removing it though. Parsers, whether you use them or not, are an invaluable tool to have if you are raiding; always has been and always will be. If one person isn't using it, there will be someone else in the group using it. It is just simply needed to make sure everyone is doing enough dps for dps checks. It lets people know if they need to take another look at their rotation and prevents groups from running around like headless chickens when they are trying to figure out why they aren't meeting a dps check.Unfortunately, the social scene in this community has changed quite a bit. Now what is not okay is harassment. That's why when you are reported for bashing someone in game for their parses, it is treated as harassment first and potential third party application second. Yes, if someone mentions parse numbers then you can technically report them, but if it is an innocent mention does it really matter? Now if they are bashing others, then that you absolutely should report; absolutely zero tolerance for that.
