Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

I don't want new racespecific styles at the cost of hairs that are added for everyone else. The whole point of running certain content is the rewards, and if the reward is a hairstyle I will never be able to use, then why should I run it at all (besides completion)? And the hairstyles that can be bought on mogstation should be added to viera regardless of racespecific hairstyles coming or not (which they won't).

It's nice to say "just do another contest and then add all of them instead of drip feeding", but there's probably a reason we only got 6 now. If I'm understanding what they've said correctly then Viera as a whole are now primed for more hair, but they still have to actually fit them and make the adjustments they feel they need (even if they're terrible like 2b's >.>) and that takes time. Not 2 years obviously, but it still takes time, along with whatever it is they're doing for Hrothgar.

Not to mention the fact that people still think if they just do another contest we'll get long hair down to our ankles rather than more anime cuts, it's not happening, even if people submitted a lot of long hair they would still choose the ones we'd vote on and doing long hair is a pain to get it to move even slightly right so we'd be in the same situation.

Since they haven't added any new hairstyles yet we can hope they're going to be playing catch up with what's already out now, but I wouldn't necessarily expect more hair every patch because we all saw how that worked out in Shadowbringers, so we'll see where they go from here.

But if people are happy with incomplete work then let them be happy. Personally I'd rather these 3 races not be limited regardless if I personally wouldn't be caught dead playing one. But I'd rather my game not be crap ya know.

There are tons of posts where someone will say "I'm happy with them" personally I'm with you guys and I would never play one.

Ah, I don't see those comments as often anymore.

But people have different opinions about it I suppose, and some male Viera players are in the honeymoon phase just happy to be able to play them now and haven't sat looking at the same 8 hairstyles for 2 years.

Even if some people are perfectly happy with they options they have right now I can't understand why they'd argue against more options for others that do want them, though.

Sure, ideally "not at the cost" of everyone else's but I don't see them putting that many resources into hairstyles and I genuinely believe they should focus on Viera and Hrothgar in this department over everyone else until they are up to parity with everyone else. The same question can be posed in reverse, why should Viera and Hrothgar players run content if the reward is a hairstyle they can't use? I also don't think they need to add V/H hairstyles as rewards for anything. They could and probably should just add them to the barber, they are specific to their respective races.

That it would come at the cost of everyone else's is pretty much a given though. I agree with you that I can't see them putting that many resources into hairstyles either, which is why I also can't see them putting resources into creating hairstyles for just Viera or just Hrothgar.

In Shadowbringers they released a total of 10 hairstyles so let's say that's their limit, in the extremely unlikely scenario they stopped adding hairstyles for everyone else and focused on making new hairstyles for just Viera and Hrothgar (who would also have to share styles between the genders, something people are getting increasingly annoyed with) we'd get 5 hairstyles each in every expansion vs. the 10 new ones for everyone if they put in the work to make them usable by all races and continue to do so going forward. Even more if they keep opening up the backlog of hairstyles for us at regular intervals.

Even if they were to take the criticism of making more distinctly feminine and masculine styles on board but still make them unisex usable it'd be 10 hairstyles for everyone but 5 leaning slightly more feminine/masculine and people can decide for themselves which ones they like and no one gets left out.

I agree with Ardeth in that if THIS is how these races are gonna be, then they shouldn't have bothered making them this way in the first place (Should have just made longer Miqote ears for Viera and "Highlander Miqote" for Hrothgar if that's the only way to make them fully functional imo) but tis the cards the players have been dealt, can't change it now, so it's best to accept that they're gonna be boned in this regard until they rework this game's graphics engine and systems.

What they said was that they would not have as many when they release, but they were going to do race exclusive hairstyles for both of the races to make up for the modern aesthetics they can't port over. The community upset over this subject happened when month after month came and went with that promise not being met in any capacity at all while they kept releasing new things for everyone else which they have acknowledged several times. I'm fine with either approach, but the disparity needs to be addressed.

Hm, question for thought... Since they said that the male viera model do not have the same limtations as Viera female had (that probably should be mended by now?)... Can we expect - at the very least - that any new hairstyle introduced from now on will contemplate both? ������

I did notice that Endwalker launched with no new hairstyles whatsoever...
