yet we all played toguether on FFXI servers w/o issues (almost), i had tons of JP parties back then , JP players usually prefer to play with other JP players (JP ONRY meme)

The EN and JP communities on Atomos have played well together, literally and "play nicely children", since from the start. I've been in parties ranging from me being the only EN speaker to entirely EN players from Day 1. I'll argue that servers which start out multicultural/multilingual tend to develop their own multi-national/linguistic cultures. I never played XI so I can't speak to their regional server structure, but I'll guess it was a similar case in that game too.

I totally get why Japanese people would want to play only with other Japanese people; even though English is compulsory education, their general facility with the language is low. I understand Japanese to some degree and can speak it to a lesser degree, but don't ask me to read and type it fast enough to be able to communicate online. My wife's the same with English; her listening/speaking/reading are very good, but her typing speed is abysmal.

While I don't like the idea of being blacklisted simply for not being able to communicate in Japanese, I do realize that I rolled on a Japanese server and that it's my responsibility to play by their rules. In my case, this means keeping my head down, sticking to mostly FC groups, being polite when in PUGs, and not putting myself in situations where fast communication is key. Thankfully I'm a really casual player so none of these are problems for me.

As Il'lmaeran, Myrany and others have said, it truly is a different culture on JPN servers (and JPN in general). People look up things before hand or practice with friends so as to not hold up or hinder others in the DF (completely opposite of NA/EU usually). People don't give up after 1 failed attempt at something and/or berate (openly) them in public. While it is true that there may be some unsavory aspects of the culture, such as lists and such, the truth is that one who is polite and considerate, even if playing poorly, wouldn't ever end up on one. It is the NA/EU folks who come over at times, demand 'wall to wall' and/or try to force it via pulling or rescue, or use JDEF (or whatever it is) instead of just 'E' in order to get faster queues and then can't communicate at all that are an issue.

I welcome anyone to come and play on JPN, but SE will never give out mass free server transfers as they know, as do any on the JPN DC, what the result would be. So, feel free to spend the $18 and come on over^^

Heck yeah brother. Show the salary man a better way. Meme aside, alot of yall are confronting a culture argument. This is not a logically argument, as despite our server being pushed to max there is free space available else where. So logically speaking SE should give us the ability to move free of charge in order to help address complaints. But they won't, as the honor of the JP server must be maintained!

JP do have a blacklist of NA players that should not be group with in their site.
A lot NA players knew about this list and it is what kept NA players in check because NA players do wants to get into JP exp party.

ofc JP pts were awesome and lasted for a while , NA usually 1 player leaving w/o rep and was done for....i always asked the leader if wanted me to find a rep...or had a rep otw...

The game genuinely asks which data centre you want to join and doesn't prevent you from doing so and you can set the languages you speak in your player search. At no point does it discourage this and it would be silly if it did. The Japanese data centre doesn't mean "Japanese language" it means "region". If you're willing to tolerate some slight lag I see no reason to stop you from going there. Most attacks are generous enough that even with some slight delay/lag you can dodge most stuff. I have a friend in Indonesia who plays on Aether with us and we run Bozja/Zadnor and Extreme raids all the time and he does just fine.
