I got Lv90 and cleared MSQ on day 3. Its successful for me. I even expected the hiccups on day 1 because I read the news about huge increase of players and shortage.

Successful as in many people can play. I am not denying other people have problems, but objectively LOTS of people are getting in and enjoying the game. The fact that the servers are constantly full, even in off hours is a testament to this.
Successful as in profitable. The game sold a LOT of preorders and post launch expansions.
Successful as in a positive review after playing the game. Many people give the story and the experience (when being able to play) glowing reviews. Almost all negative comments are about logging in.. not playing.
So yes. Successful. This does not mean "flawless".
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I love the expansion, respect the dev team, feel bad for them, have faith they're doing what they can and will continue to stay subbed.
But it's a terrible launch. It's just a fact. Yes they warned us, but if I warn you something will blow up and it does, it doesn't mean it's functioning fine because I warned you. It clearly blew up.
Pretty much this in the end.Successful as in many people can play. I am not denying other people have problems, but objectively LOTS of people are getting in and enjoying the game. The fact that the servers are constantly full, even in off hours is a testament to this.

It's hilarious how queue issues are apparently all it takes for some to go 'worst launch ever, even new world was better', which is an entirely disingenuous take. Nobody will deny that especially for those who can never get in, these issues are horrible, but let's not kid ourselves eh? EW is a successful launch.. that's the entire problem.. too successful to where it causes problems.
This is wrong. If you are a working that gets home in the evening, on a lot of worlds, you just can not play. Plain and simple. It is a successful launch.
Everyone is able to play, just not as much as we want to.
The server are stable and I have not experienced any bugs.
And when you don't have the time to play in the evening, have you tried to go to bed early and play for a few hours in the morning?
Even on a Sunday at 11am you have no queue.

This is very dependent on your server, because at 11am for me yesterday it was nearly a 2k queue which was
roughly a 2 or 2 and a half hour wait. There's no "just not as much as we want to play" when you can't play at all.
When I logged off at 8, there was a 5k queue, which is probably a 5-6 hour wait.
From what I noticed, at 2:30PM on a work day, the queue's gets to over 1k and that's a sign for evening people.
I just hope they figure out something soon. I rather not play at 3AM to do anything lol.

Successful in having a selfish community. "I enjoyed the game, so I don't care about those who can't and were left behind along the way"
When people complain about being 6000 in the queue, it isn't just a number. It means there are 6000 people trying to get in in just a single server at that exact moment. Count every server, every hour, every day. The fact you liked the story or they sold many copies, may mean it is a financial success, but it is not a successful launch.
The servers are PACKED with people. That's why you can't play. It isn't "some" that aren't having issues. It's most. Everyone on my friends list and in my guilds have been playing. Some less than they would like, but nobody has been unable to play. A ton of us are level 90 already and finished with the story.
That doesn't mean that there aren't problems, but these are the exact same problems every MMO has gone through at major releases. And there is literally nothing they can do about the server issues right now or they would. The game, however, runs fantastically and I haven't had a single issue. No crashes, no lag, no weird bugs.
The game launch is a success for me and countless others since we are doing level 90 dungeons right now. I'm sorry that you personally are having a hard time and presumably cannot log in earlier to get ahead of queues...but sadly, in the world of MMOs? That's your problem. It has been ever since WoW's initial release. Since then, MMOs have always struggled to have good clean launches. Even the MUCH less popular ones tend to struggle with big release days.
Also:
Then why is my whole guild and friends group that roleplays together all able to get on in the evenings after getting home from work? Sure they had a hard time the first couple days, but since then they have been getting online and playing after getting through the queue. I tend to log off during prime time to open my spot for someone else so I don't deal with the queues, but my friends who get home in the evening after work have been able to play.

It was the best of launches, it was the worst of launches....
I think this perspective is correct:
The expansion itself is successful. Those who can play are genuinely enjoying themselves, and the servers are fairly stable once you get in. The story is being widely praised. Lore hounds are fed and satisfied. There are some pacing issues, but SE managed to keep the latter half of the story so tightly under wraps that most people hitting those zones and dungeons and trials are going to be gobsmacked like I was.
Bu the launch was not successful, due to overwhelming popularity. People who bought the game brand new are unable to make a character. People who work during normal business hours are faced with virtual traffic jams once they get home. I'm sure the engineers on SE are on the verge of collapse from overwork.

It was a good launch queue issue aside.
Achievement Discord is a collecting community that welcomes anyone who wants to achieve in-game, including hardcore collectors, casual collectors, and anyone trying to collect something specific, such as mounts or minions. This is a place for collectors, to come together on All Data Centers. It's a way to share goals and work together as not every achievement is solo, so getting like-minded people in the Data Centers together can help do that. https://discord.gg/ffxiv-achievement
