I am sure that the "other games" that have this functionality likely have it built into the code.

3 minutes isn't enough for an AFK person to log back in, it's only enough time for someone who's paying attention and actively playing to boot up the game once, maybe twice and try to log in

Where do you get that he was AFK? The other day, I was actively grinding out mining mats for a delivery quest, and the game disconnected me. I couldn't even get into the queue for several minutes on account of my character being "inappropriately logged out," and when I finally managed it, I was stuck there for a couple of hours before I could play again. I still have no idea what it was that made me DC. This happened to me twice that day. I was super annoyed.
