If you buy concert tickets and don't get let in because of the "current situation" and miss the concert without getting your money back, you'd probably still see it as reasonable for it is the fault of the "currect situation" and you can't blame the orgainzers at all?

FF14 isn't an Indie game, and it has gained an insane amount of tracktion over the last half a year, along with that, a HUGE amount of inactive players will of course come back when Endwalker drops, so this was really to be expected from a mile away.

then again should we really expect soo much from a game that can;t even give all players player housing where many other mmos that were much bigger have? i got banned from ffxiv steam forums for complaining about player housing to devs, banned by a DEV directly because i slandered the housing system.

The only reason they didn't respond to the influx as we all feel they should.. is because they couldn't, this has been made very clear already.

The problem is they keep saying semi-conductor shortage, and while there is a shortage there isn't zero supply. Their argument falls apart once you actually put it to the test. You can order a high end maxed out server and the lead time is currently about a month. A more mid-range server has a 3-day lead time. Sure, it's not tomorrow, but if they've really been trying for 7 months then they'd have had the hardware long ago.

It's a little bit like how they said the 2002 error was due to user packet loss, but we found out they deliberately time out connections after 15 minutes and when the client reconnects if the data centre is full you get a 2002. It actually has nothing to do with packet loss of the client end.

Square Enix/the dev team aren't being completely truthful and they're getting found out.

Exactly that's the thing. I have written a script about 2 years ago to track my Internet connection at all times (cause I had problems with my provider back then and he demanded proof of my bad conneciton).
I switched providers by now but kept the tracker. My connection is absolutely flawless, no package loss at all, and yet I still get these error messages.

What do you suggest? A MMO just stagnate for years until it takes for the supply chain to catch up? Past MMOs have shown what this results in.

That's the thing though. Servers and components are limited currently, but they aren't unavailable.
The company I work for isn't even 1% the size of Square Enix, and we just bought a shitton of servers to upgrade.
If a huge corporation like Nintendo, Sony and yes, also Square, want Servers, they can get them. They might be a bit more expensive than the norm, but don't tell me FF14 has money problems with the current congestion.
