Solid take I think.
Some compensation or consideration seems appropriate at this point. We're well into actual launch and people are just not able to access their characters to play the game they want, when they want for extended periods (lets be honest this isn't going to be fixed within the next few days). There are a lot of reasons why, many of which nobody could really have forseen or prevented, but to preserve goodwill and customer satisfaction it's well within their power (and financially viable) to provide some gametime or a paid item or two for the inconvenience.
I'd say they're probably scrambling to do whatever they possibly can within reason to fix things and are also planning out and requesting permission for whatever "compensation" they think is appropriate.. likely more game time.
