If and when they feel comfortable adding new jobs (after/alongside any work they might need to do on existing jobs), I'm still praying for Chemist, especially after
that tease in 5.0 post-MSQ story.
People might use excuses to shoot my hope down, but I've already been right before about RDM and BLU despite that. And I still think they could use the Mudra tech from Ninja to pull Mix off.

I'm also really curious to see just about any of the really popular ones people hope get added, like Mystic Knight, Beastmaster, and Geomancer. (The latter especially after they removed the "geomancy" abilities from WHM despite the supposed refuting lore.)

I'd also love to see Pirate/Privateer. And we could probably use a use for those rifles Limsa has from 1.0, as well as something to let people finally play something pirate, especially since Rogue goes to Ninja and Marauder goes to Warrior, so they lose the pirate-ish theme leaving nothing with that feel at the Job level.

When you are done with 6.0 MSQ, go back to Garlemald, there is an NPC there (one of the main NPCs) who teases Chemist, again...

As an idea for Geomancer, I'm imagining a caster that uses field effects. Similar to BRD stance dancing, they would lay down fairly wide reaching field effects that are basically long lasting DoTs (think old Flaming Arrow and Shadow Flare).

Then within that field, certain skills take on different effects. To avoid just stacking all your fields and calling it a day, the system would have to work in way that either the field is generated by the Geomancer, or there is a field limit restriction.

The fields don't have to be strictly elemental, like fire, wind, water, ect. They can be environmental, like magma, marsh, desert, tundra, storm, things like that. They could rotate through the fields building up a resource for stronger attacks. Alternatively, something similar to how Requiescat works, using a certain big skill would end the field. Good for if the mobs are about to die or the boss is about to jump.

Skies the limit here. I for one wouldn't mind jobs that were just blends in existing ones or thematically very close. I would like an assassin class, using katars. Combos like a monk, bursty like a sam, with ninja like movement abilities.
You could make two close classes play very differently lile a Ranger vs the "bard"
I would imagine the hardest part is weapon choice for many as that, unfortunately, is locked. Recoloring the books between sch and smn has already been rather disappointing.

I wouldn't mind if they also did more Gunbreaker classes. Distilling past characters into classes. We could get another thief style class out of Zidane with a double blade, a dps 2h sword by combining Auron and Cloud, or maybe some sort of gunner class using Barrett/Laguna/Balthier.

still quite a few ffxi jobs I'd love to see in the future.

    Puppetmaster
    Beastmaster
Corsair (physical redmage essentially letting it weave swordplay and gunplay)
    Geomancer

FFXIV - 1.0 classic servers (before the meteor) should happen. I think I want it, and I do.

You know, reading some of these replies and thinking about it…

In the last expansion, they set precedent for the creation of a job based loosely around the move sets of existing FF characters, instead of the job fantasy of classic jobs (Gunbreaker with Squall/Seifer).

In -this- expansion, they’re tinkering with rotation phases that actively transform the appearance and abilities of your character (Reaper).

What would y’all say to a Scouting job with a double-bladed (thief)sword that emphasizes the building and use of Dynamis as a means to enter a Trance phase, a la Zidane? Dunno what to call it though.

That aside, I love the idea of Geomancer as a support type caster dps (since there isn’t really one) that creates fields of influence that DoT, boost damage/direct/crit and/or bolster defense.

Despite the fact that the devs have said they’re kinda running out of ideas for classic jobs to use (or that they just want the chance to create something new) there’s actually a plethora of classic and more recent jobs they haven’t used yet, with a lot from the Ivalice series coming to mind. Geomancer, Cannoneer, Bishop, Mystic/Oracle, and Seer come to mind. I can imagine Cannoneer in particular as a kind of physical ranged DPS parallel to Black Mage, with a trade off of movement for pure power.

I also saw a suggestion somewhere earlier for a type of DPS involving transforming into monsters. There is actually a FF precedent for that! Morpher, an uninspiringly named Nu Mou job, could transform itself into basically any creature found in battle. I don’t think I’d be able to see that as anything other than a limited job though, because it’s basically a more complicated Blue Mage.

I’ve said this a lot but I’ve much prefer them take a break and reevaluate the jobs they currently have. As the more they add the more difficult they are to balance and means even more jobs will be ignored. If we had fewer jobs we could’ve had more reworks to old ones, or have the reworked ones have more thought put into them.

Also petty quip but I’m sick of them adding new jobs they half-ass, having them start late as hell in content far from new players reach, having very very few weapons to chose from and having crappy rushed job quests. Yea I don’t want lv80 jobs in 7.0 nor lv90 jobs in 8.0

i dont really know final fantasy classes that much but i feel like we need a rogue? the limsa rogue at the start has a very different style and lore then the far eastern ninja for personal lore reasons to like i cant see my character as a ninja but i can see him as a rogue type if that makes sense.

    Tank - Viking/Berserker
Dual Axes, Hammer, for Viking would be cool. I don’t think the game has yet been heavy handed with Norse references or having NPCs named for Norse figures so this could work somewhere. Rune Fencer could be cool, but we have enough sword wielders, time for something different.

    Healer - Green Mage
Clubs or Hammer. Barrier healer with abilities to undermine enemy attacks and create vulnerabilities. Green Mage, unlike other Healers who spam 1 Ranger attack spell, does a Melee Combo instead. A lot of people *still* want chemist, and honestly I look at Sage and the fact that we have Alchemist and say that’s fine enough. Potion Pitcher is cool in Ragnarok Online, but it’s not ideal here imho.

    MDPS - Beastmaster
    Whips and/or Monster Jugs.
I do not want limited jobs. [Bring BLU into the fold, ban Instant Death and Overworld cheese spells from queuing and make it the perfect all rounder.] However it could be a compromise for a monster to be captured and equipped in the sub weapon slot, I’d imagine something similar for PUP equipping the Mammet as the weapon.

    RDPS - Ranger/Hunter
Crossbows (seriously we have bows and guns but completely skipped the crossbow, well Machinist does have it but it’s not the same…)
No, Bard nor its Archer class is a replacement for a straight up Ranger. Keep orientating Bard towards support. Give the scouting gear to Ranger. Honestly something like Vayne from League of Legends could be cool with a Tumble skill. Alternatively BST could be rolled into a Hunter style job.

    CDPS - Geomancer
    Bells
Easily the most obvious choice at this point. It would be a positional based caster that fights similar to melee DPS to hit flank, or sides, while also having effects for being in front of an enemy especially for solo. Compass Mage. Alternatively there is Necromancer, but I feel we are ready to finally get GEO.
