Ladies and Gentlemen, back up has arrived. Thank you.
But I'm confused. I thought a person boasting about being a part of the IT industry would know all of this stuff? But nevertheless, she will come back with a rebuttal after she's gain back her composure and try to determine the best way to dig herself out of the multiple holes presented to her.

How else is the company to judge how severe they should take an issue if people don't stand up and make it known? In what way is that entitlement?
'Entitled' has several meanings. Just because you are using one definition of it - correctly, might I add - does not negate the simple fact that I'm using another definition of it which happens to also be correct. You are entitled to what you paid for - which is a game currently undergoing a launch where service may be interrupted. You are also entitled to the ability to cancel your subscription, as outlined by the ToS/EULA that you signed to play the game, which is the same ToS/EULA that states pretty clearly that service may be interrupted and you acknowledge this. You signed that, in order to even play the game. If you didn't agree, you were also entitled to a refund of your purchase. You signed the waiver. If you found an interruption of service to be unacceptable, you were given the option well before you logged in to decline, get your money back and go about your day.

You are entitled because you expect differently, in spite of having been given a large amount of warning in both a document that you signed in order to even use the service that you then paid for, as well as the advance warning of the team that while they have done what they could, the servers may still encounter issues because they had an unprecedented amount of people purchase the game and return to play. Remember, the service is active for everyone - including those people who didn't purchase the expansion, but still pay for the game and play the expansion they have. Those people, too, are in the same queues you are. They count, even if they did not pay for Endwalker. You don't have to pay for Endwalker to be part of the surge, and thus you can be very unexpected.

You aren't being respectful, either. You've resorted to name-calling later in the thread, and you posted this thread in a forum that it is not intended for. You are not asking for technical help. You are not offering technical statistics to those who moderate this forum in an effort to help them pinpoint issues, unknown or otherwise. You made your own post about the queues. The queues everyone is aware of, everyone is dealing with, and everyone has to get through. Your thread helps no one. You are entitled to your opinion, and your voice. Your entitlement is in believing, thoroughly, that you are doing a company a service by stating the obvious.

In one of my previous posts, I stated the shortage isn't an excuse.

Theres a reason why companies pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for public relations. Its to coerce consumers into acceptance. Just because theres a so called "shortage" of hardware, does not mean its non existent. There are other ways to purchase items other than amazon. These prices are for sure much more expensive to due to supply/demand. But they exist. I am one of the people in charge of procurement at my job. I would know.

No one is arguing with you that this game is special. The queue times prove that. But this isn't the first time it's happened. Instead of preparing for this well in advance, they've let it go, and here we are today.
Yes, the prices are far more expensive due to supply and demand, but there are an enormous amount of industries that are impacted by this shortage. Your entitlement is in believing that the company should have shelled out excessive amounts of cash to fix an issue that is not permanent and impacts nothing more than your ability to play a game for a few weeks, while industries responsible for transportation, communication, and basic manufacturing have been struggling since the issue initially began last year, during a global pandemic that saw manufacturing shut down. A pandemic, might I add, that is still ongoing.

Respectfully, your gameplay absolutely takes a backseat to... well, every industry that uses these semiconductors. Your gameplay does not take precedence over machines that are responsible for keeping people alive and well. It doesn't take precedence over the communication industries that need them. It doesn't take precedence over the transportation industries that rely on them. If you think, for even a moment, that the ability to log into a video game at all takes precedence over the ability to monitor someone's beating heart or keep communication alive in critical departments around the world, then you need to understand that you are, in fact, entitled.

So, please. By all means. Keep telling me that this is unacceptable, while understanding that you are trying to tell me that your pretend-y funtimes takes precedence over keeping people alive. Keep telling me that you're not displaying a sense of entitlement. Here, in this thread that you made sure to start yourself instead of putting it in the appropriate forum in a thread where you could get all the agreement that you wanted with all the other people who are all also waiting in the queue and experiencing the exact same completely normal and actually quite expected launch issues that any other MMO would also be experiencing.

I hope you understand, now that I've made sure to really dig into it, why I'm calling you and many others 'entitled.' You believe that you, and your $15, are more important than the fundamental needs of an entire globe - and after last year, I have no patience for people who think far too highly and too much of themselves.

Also, paying for the initial game and the 15 a month, I do expect everything to work as intended. The monthly charge are for the servers, maintenance, and upkeep of said servers.
If you were able to allocate your funds directly, maybe. However, your money doesn't just go to the servers. It goes to building maintenance, system maintenance, payroll for an obscene amount of departments, servers, transportation, upgrades, moving costs and more that I cannot find the time to detail - but if any of those departments or things are not paid for, then they do not work. Then you do not get your game. Then you do not have the ability to pay for the game, and thus do not have the game. You are not paying for the servers with $15. You are assisting in paying for everything; mere pennies in the pond comparatively.

When SE got the incredible surge of WoW refugees months ago, there was their first red flag. When preorders started, that was their second. From FF14 veterans, apparently this situation ALWAYS happens with an expansion release. Fast forward to today. Here we are. Dreadfully long queue times. For some reason, you claim this to be entitlement? Such a silly and incorrect observation.
As an MMO veteran, I can inform you that this happens with every MMO. New World launched to 20k+ queues. Wildstar? Queues. Guild Wars 2? Queues! World of Warcraft? Queues. Name an MMO, there are queues. The queues here? Smaller than the ones I saw during SB. Why? They upgraded. They didn't upgrade as much as they would have liked because resources were limited, but they upgraded. They have acknowledged that it wasn't enough, they have apologized for the complications due to it, and they are taking the steps to alleviate the issues within their power. They aren't just tacking on more servers that might just also crash - they're actively chasing down the issues causing crashes to stabilize things.

You? You're just waiting in line. This isn't your work. This is comfort, and it is optional. Don't want to wait in line? Then don't - cancel your sub and come back in a few weeks or months. The game will still be here, and the queues will be virtually non-existent. Maybe not gone, but minimal. There's literally an entire internet worth of stuff to do in the meantime.

... you can thank the necessary semi-conductors for that.

I am aware of my so called "entitlements" you've so eloquently laid out for me. But as I discussed early with the IT industry lady, I will continue to do what I see fit and engage with who I see fit until Ive ended it.
I feel like I have to keep repeating myself because the people jumping on me only read the quoted portions they are apart of.

Do you enjoy long queue times? If your answer is no, then going on the forums and expressing your concerns and frustrations is what you are supposed to do. How else is SE supposed to judge how severe this situation without judging the publics reaction. In my OP, I was frustrated, but respectable. YOU people started jumping on me with delusions of entitlements when I was simply doing what gamers are supposed to do.

I will agree that some of the "nerd rage" posts are whiny. But honestly, try to think of me as an ok human being, was my OP a spoiled entitled child whining? If your answer is yes to this, I can't have a legitimate conversation with you anymore.

Your OP was respectful, sure. It was also quite ignorant. You said the red flags had been there for "months". The shortage has been there for over a year and a half.

*edit* Also, yes, expressing your dissatisfaction is good. You expressed yours AFTER they had already acknowledged the problem and given the steps they're taking to address that problem. I'll pose the same question you ignored again. When this issue first presented itself on day 1 of early access, what do you propose would be SE's most appropriate course of action?

I did catch the I'm not being respectful in past posts. I give respect to people who give me respect. When people lie and try to twist my OP into some delusional spoiled brat entitled nerdrage, I'm going on the defensive. Simple as that. I start every conversation with respect. If someone starts off insulting me, all bets are off for a respectful manner goes out the window. Im also not "name calling," im describing their behavior.

You really are a piece of work aren't ya? Nulstat

First of all none of the games mentioned had such errors as 2002 and 3001 and all the others. That is the main complaint.
You think people don't deserve to play a game they bought. You think they don't deserve to play when they want too, or at least be in the queue and be able to keep their positions.
You are the type of white knights I despise the most. Also, about these games you're talking about. Not every server had a queue that took a couple hours and had errors run them out of the queue. Not consistently and not for this long. So stop bringing up the queues because that really isn't the issue at hand, it's the errors that happen while people are in queue.

Secondly, Your semi-conductors excuse is a valid and legit excuse to have, but the fact is SE release a game that half of the community can't get on. Unless they alter their sleeping schedules or take time off of work. WHICH IS UNACCEPTABLE ANYWHERE. Yes I used caps. All you white knights or people that like to stick up for this kind of behavior from companies like to say well just wait and then come back while the rest of the people can enjoy the game, you'll get all the story spoiled for you and you'll have people clear the dungeons and raids. Because like you said the Semi-conductors are the problem. Isn't the stock for those supposed to be out for the next 6 months? Or are you saying that because people will get fed up with having to wait in queues to be constantly kicked out or baby sit the queues to get in? I get it you could careless about the player base as a whole. As long as you're right about what you're opinion, because that's all it is. An opinion some facts spread in there.

Thirdly, People have a right to be upset and want a refund if they want. One like i said before they WILL have the story spoiled for them. Especially if they have social media with connections with FFXIV. I bet you'll say "Well duh get off of those sites." Aren't you the smartest crayon in the box. Let me digress though and continue. The servers are the problem, but to get into the game the servers have to work. And again other MMO's had queues. But most if not all as long as you waited out the queue you would be the in the game. What I would do while waiting for the queue. Again you have to baby sit this one.

number 4, Your whole stick about "This isn't your work. This is comfort, and it is optional." No no no no. If I pay for something I expect it to work. Period. I expect from a game and all games that I should be able to get in at the moments I want to play. Sub is counted in days. 24 hour period for each day. Not in the morning and not at late late night. When I want too. and Yes since I paid for this service or object or whatever. I expect me to be able to use it. To me this is a hobby and it is my biggest stress reliever. Always has been. You got a problem with it I really don't care, because this is my life and I can do what I want with it. I bet if your internet didn't always work and you could only use it reliably in the morning or late night you would be mad about it.

As a MMO veteran I am disgusted with people like you. Every gaming company needs to know what can be allowed and not. This right here shouldn't be allowed. WoW practices of making players feel like they should have to play every day shouldn't be allowed because that becomes addiction. New World and all their mess ups shouldn't be allowed. People like you let companies like them get away with this type of behavior.

They should've pushed Endwalker back for the release till they had better/more servers. You don't like it because it would be a draught and you couldn't play at all. But their are people literally living in that they can't play. When they should be able too. Entitlement. I swear people like you just use words whenever you like to, to put someone down. To me you are White knighting, because you bring up other MMO's and compare them like those MMOs and FFXIV have the same problem. They don't. It does not matter if they apologize. Apologizing only goes so far.

Yoshi is a great man and someone I find to be a very great role model or a hard worker and tries to do his best. SE to me is the problem. Again I don't care about your semi-conductors. I really do wish you would see it from the people who can't play.

I just went through the whole thread to be certain, but the only insults actually came from your very own posts...

Thank you Ziplda. Sadly, whats even more disturbing, is these people ARE the people who can't play the game. They are stuck in the same unacceptable queue times, yet they kick back and accept the PR's response to this matter which isn't an acceptable excuse. The shortage is a shortage. SE just doesn't want to spend the heavily inflated prices the parts are currently at right now.
