She was afraid of alienating Hermes from becoming Fandaniel, as he was deemed to have unvaluable knowledge for the coming days.15. Venat and her plan and her promise: this one is huge for me. Basically after spending some days in Elpis with Venat, Emet-Selch, Hythlodaeus and Fandaniel, after Meteion goes rogue, Fandaniel erases his own memories and the memories of Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus, the memories of the last few days; and only the WoL and Venat manage to escape this; Venat promises the WoL that she will remember everything and use all the information to prevent the Final Days. Yet she fails. Why does she fail? How does she fail? What exactly did she even do to even start to attempt to stop the Final Days? Did she have a solid plan? How soon after the WoL leaves Elpis do the Final Days happen? How much time does Venat have to prepare? Why would she not tell the truth to Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus and ask them to not tell Fandaniel? If Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus refused to believe her, she did say that the surrounding aether retains memories of events, so she could have used that to prove to Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus that what happened was real. Emet-Selch is considered the greatest and most powerful mage of his time, why would Venat not want to have him on her side, especially with the Final Days looming over their world? Again, many unexplored/unanswered questions and I'm very VERY afraid we will never get actual in-game answers to them.

I agree that Endwalker is not up to previous expansions, it's felt rather cheap and boring to me.
Heavensward > Shadowbringers > Stormblood > Endwalker.

Ye they rushed to much thing here and made some things to naive. They was need to make it a normal expansion.finish the story over the next 3-4 patches.

For everyone asking about more Elidibus stuff - That's his VA talking about Pandaemonium at the end of the last cutscene, so his comment about remembering us is probably gonna be related to that. Otherwise the guy is dead. He literally said "I am going to go die know. Have fun in the past okay bye"
Why would they need more screen time? The entirety of ShB and the patches up to Seat of Sacrifice were Zodiark's side of the story. Everything from Qitana Ravel onwards explained his/the Ascians motivations and methods both: They were sacrificing new life to restore the life they had. Endwalker is the first time the playerbase has gotten anything concrete regarding Hydaelyn's perspective on things, and iirc we didn't even learn Venat's name until a few patches ago.It explains it sure but it still feels like a crazy cop-out. This entity thats supposed to be the opposing half of the other main entity is done with less than halfway through the story. Both him and elidibus got basically nothing compared to how much time hydaelyn and venat have gotten. We didn’t even get to hear Zodiark’s side of things at all. It’s just bam, hes dead and that’s that…
IIRC, some time ago either Yoshida or Ishikawa said that the Hydaelyn/Zodiark conflict wasn't about good or evil, which ended up being entirely true. Zodiark, the 'dark god', was created out of desperation in an earnest bid to save the planet from a problem no one could solve. It's just that, due to some time travel and memory wiping shenanigans, the latter on the part of the man who caused the issue in the first place, they didn't even know what the cause of the problem was, only the effect.
Venat's the only one who knew what was going on. She's the only one who knew the scope and cause of the final days, and that Zodiark was at best a band-aid that didn't come anywhere close to addressing the source of the issue from a practical or philosophical/emotional standpoint. So, with this perspective and her foreknowledge, she split Zodiark and froze him in place, stopping Meteion from assaulting/eroding the aether surrounding the planet and preventing the amaurotines from making any more sacrifices.
So yeah, i don't really know what more one could want from Zodiark. We had an entire expac of his right hand man telling us exactly what their plans were and why, and then 2 patches of the guy that was his mind/willpower being like "this is what i want to do, why, and how." By the time we get to the moon he's just a chained up mass of wailing souls ready for anyone to pilot, as stated by both Zenos and Fandaniel the zone before. After 10 years of plot it was time Hydaelyn got some actual exposition.

TBH, the story in this game is all over the place, there are too many plot twists, sometimes to the point that it feels comical, inappropriate moments of silliness killing the momentum when a dark mood has been established, same goes for the quest completion fanfare, that completely kills the momentum in some instances, where it should have been disabled.
Also some parts of this game really feel like watching filler episodes in anime.

Let's not forget the fact that if they were also aware of events, things might have been vastly different that may have affected the future WoL needs to return to. The point of her suffering in silence is to maintain events as it was as much as possible, so that the WoL can return to the same timeline. Elidibus references this with that line "The future you must return to is a result of the Final Days"
This is clearly over OP's head.
I mean Venat herself says that we cant change our future (their past has already happened at that point) but they may change theirs. Its just like the bad future in Shadowbringers. We changed the outcome but that future still exists. We would be the same. We would have had the knowledge to fight the Final Days and our Ancients would have stayed death but their future might have been completely different. It could be possible it was just not the way the devs wanted the story to go to.Let's not forget the fact that if they were also aware of events, things might have been vastly different that may have affected the future WoL needs to return to. Also I too wonder why she did not try to at least talk to Hythlo and Emet. And was Hermes knowledge truly necessary anymore since Venat knew the reason behind the Final days? (Who knows maybe it was even she who gave him the hints on where to look to) Honestly when it all started it really felt that maybe the WoL would at least change the future for these Ancients but it was again just another part of the time loop.

Yeah, this is the main thing that they do with the story that I hate. They've done it enough times even before this expansion that as soon as Thancred goes I immediately thought "Oh ok, so they're all going to "die" and then come back again in 5 minutes. I'd rather things that are presented as sacrifices in the story actually be sacrifices, not minor inconveniences. At the final days trail, so im going to say this.
Im so fucking tired of basically dbz hero scions.
Scion dies
50min later
Pop scions back.
It honestly makes me want to slit all their throats. You get a moment of tearfull eyes only for 50mins then pop they back. I sware death means nothing in 14.
Like the only few deaths were meaningless or hardly something to careabout its like meha thing. Or they were already dead and they just tore at our hearts.
For a big end walker of despair was a huge disappointment was basically cub cakes and unicorns with how little impact it has.
The way death works in 14 is almost as horrible as dbz

For me, I was disappointed with Zodiark, but only because of where the story led us. If given a choice I would have freed Zodiark because at his core he wasnt evil in the slightest. The issue was the other Ascians. Id have liked to actually speak to what was left of Zodiark and get his personality. The story states he was will-less and mindless due to Elidibus leaving, and yet Elidibus refers to him as "Lord Zodiark" and implies that he had soem sort of personality. It is kind of like how in Elpis they refer to us as a familiar. In any case I would have liked to see that. I also dont understand why he looks so different from the statues and imagry weve seen before. Is this a result of what Elidibus did? There is the added question around what the Red spiral is, Why with zodiarks departure his influence ends right away, but when hydealyn goes her "sundering" and enervartion does not. What of the parts of Zodiark sealed in the other shards? Are they just ambiant aether now? Finally what did Elidibus swear and to whom? We may get some of these answers within the raid series, i suppose.
