5000 people in a large city buy expressway passes to use toll access freeways in said city. The freeway isnt large enough to accomodate 5000 vehicles at once would be a better comparisonOMG the Copium, BS and Mental Gymnastics is Incredible XD
You know there's a 4 door Sedan that can seat at least 1000 people, there's plenty of room for everyone to ride it.
Provided everyone also spreads out evenly throughout the day.
No car is ever going to be able to handle the entire population trying to ride it at the same time.
/facepalm

Here is a simple fact. SE should have had better servers to begin with, they have barebones what they need and that as a business practice for a game like this is unacceptable. This should have /never/ have been an issue to begin with.
I have been on the administrative side of things and owned game servers, being a senior GM with access to servers.
This should have never been an issue to begin with prior to Covid. Prior to any shortage.

Fun fact, the shortages have existed since before COVID. COVID just rapidly exposed said shortages as more and more people stayed at home. And their servers are far different then servers you're used to, if they are still with NTT. They are closer to the storage servers I use at work, which are not as simple as people think with massive incoming and outgoing connects. Here is a simple fact. I do sympathize with SE and Yoshi and Team works their butts off however there comes a time that we could not just say it's ok.
Every expansion it is the same thing... they truly need to be better prepared. Also perhaps omit the wording of "Early Access" on Pre-orders if one cannot even get on for it.

They have warned people, that's true.
But they also have accepted people's money for their game, that is also true.
So don't blame people, who have given them money that they have accepted, when they complain about it.
I'm not sure why these threads keep popping up when in reality almost all of us agree on the actual problem: 2002 errors while in queue. Just say that's the problem. It's not the lack of semiconductors and it's not the sudden, unexpected influx of WoW refugees. We could probably all live with extreme queues (and the problems that cause them) if it wasn't possible to get 2002'd while in queue. Haven't we had enough of these threads?

The alarm bells sounded when they sold out of the digital keys last summer, but by then it was too late to get servers in time for expansion launch. The lead time on new enterprise data center hardware is about 12 months right now. Even back when I was in data center systems marketing, procurement of that kind of system took three months on normal time scale.
When 2.0 launched and they were already out of server space, they were able to order additional hardware at the emergency price rate and get it up and running within a week.... because that hardware existed! It does not exist now. The venders have backorders to every giant corporation under the sun, so the moment they get the materials for their equipment, it's already earmarked for someone else. SE is in their own queue hell, waiting for the OCE datacenter servers they ordered, but it'll be months before they get them.
It is not an attack on this company to expect to get what you paid for with this expansion. People making the impossibility argument are arguing with emotion rather than logic. If people can prove that they are not getting what they paid for, they should be able to get their money back and move on. Why is their so much passion in this discussion?

Would you prefer they didn't take your money and only sold a limited amount of copies?
I for one would prefer to make that decision on my own, because I'm an adult who knows my schedule and whether or not I have time to play during a typical MMO launch.

So your answer to having to wait in a line to play a game is you want to wait In a line aka delayed launch so you can then wait in a line at that launch? If you think queues wouldn't happen in the future your dumb as rocks.
