Level 90 end of Endwalker discussion + spoilers

Reading the notes and seeing the things the NPCs are saying...

I noticed this in the second part of the dungeon if you read the data logs, it would seem that Meteon caused the downfall of at least two planets she visited, though not directly.

The people of the war torn world are fighting over how much one faction was over the other because they were the ones contacted by extraterrestrial life, likely Meteon.

In the idyllic world in the third part, she starts to ask them question about the point of existence that cause the inhabitants of that world to come to a sort of existential crisis, and being unprepared to face them, they wished for death.

Though I don't see her being at fault for the world of the fishfolk, one has to wonder how many other worlds she was indirectly responsible for causing their downfall.

It's suggested that Etheriys was being protected by its abnormally high levels of aether and that many of the other worlds were basically bringing the Final Days unto themselves as their despair started to affect their people and the environment until life became unsustainable. The Ea specifically mention that they knew of a world that was undone by the same disaster as ours, and that first world you visit in the Dead Ends seems to have fallen to a plague that became abnormally virulent due to the influence of dynamis, to the extent of poisoning the water and filling the air with miasma.

The conditions created by the umbral calamities likely would've killed worlds where dynamis held more sway.

Dynamis seems like a very powerful and dangerous force if there isnt any aether to halt it. Hope we learn more about it.

Given that there are still terminus beasts scattered about as a living testament to the existence of dynamis, I could see them being a potential plot hook if some ill-intentioned folk were able to research the beasts and formulate methods of controlling it.

Even sundered the world's level of aether is still high enough to prevent it from exerting excessive levels of influence normally, but with all the myriad ways of manipulating aetherial density that's not necessarily much of an obstacle.

The fish folk world, at least when I played it, makes me think that the plague wasn't actually disease like we'd typically think. If you look at the way the world looks, and see some of the small details, what I noticed there was lack of care for their environment caused them to massively over pollute their world. So same general idea, but they were getting sick due to pollution not just disease.

I had to second guess this when I saw the war-torn world and thought that perhaps Meteion wasn't the most reliable narrator. She relayed what she observed, but perhaps didn't have all the information, or didn't talk to the right people when she did visit those worlds, so her point of view was heavily skewed and lacking information. This isn't entirely different from Emet Selch's narrations in Amarout. He tells us the story of the Final Days the best he knew, but there was a lot of the story missing simply because it related to details he just didn't know.

    Interestingly you can also reasonably match up some of the areas in the dungeon and zone with Meteion's report back in Elpis;

The Pestilent Sands area with the fish people seems to match her description of Tessera:
"Edifices surmised to be abandoned residences found. No Extant life-forms detected. Deadly plague or extreme environmental degradation likely to have led to mass extinction".
    Judgement Day may be Okto:
"Star found in state of violent conflict. Contact succesfully made with inhabitants, but deployment of weapons of mass destruction resulted in total annihilation of local population shortly thereafter".
The Nekropolis area at the end of the Ultima Thule may have been Hena:
"Traces of civilisation found—structures believed to have served as domiciles. No extant life-forms detected".

The names on the areas in the dungeon map don't entirely match, but yes.

Pestilent Sands is Ostrakon Hexi, Judgment Day is Ostrakon Okto as you said. The Nekropolis is likely what you said. Additionally, The Plenty on the map corresponds to Ostrakon Deka hepta.

I'll have to go back and rewatch that cutscene to see more about how this lines up.

It's probably no coincidence that Raha-la's face looks like Meteion's, too.

I didn't really pick up on that but now that you mention it there is a bit of a resemblance. I just kind of assumed it was something akin to a primal or terminus beast that they summoned to bring about their end.

The dungeon as a whole though was pretty interesting. Makes you think about what would have happened if Meteion never visited those worlds. There's likely not that could have been done for the ocean planet - they seem to have just doomed themselves through pollution and overpopulation. The sickness appears to have been amplified by Dynamis though (probably due to Meetion's arrival) causing the infected to turn into terminus beast like creatures. But the other two you could definitely link back to her arrival being the catalyst.

Yep. It's a shame for sure. And I imagine that hit Meteion hard too.

I kind of figured Raha-la or whatever was a Primal, it felt like the kind of thing. And it kind of had what looked like the face of the creatures summoning it.
