My uncle works at Square Enix and he told me Yoshi-P has like a hundred new servers and he's using them to farm Bitcoin instead of letting us play. The queue isn't even real, there's plenty of spots for players to log in but they are blocking us from playing the new expansion just to troll us. Same with the 2002 "error," it's scripted on purpose to kick people out as a prank. The FFXIV team gets paid a bonus for every angry thread posted to the forums!

Oh, I saw a video of that on YouTube before SE forced YouTube to take it down. Is your uncle the one who posted that? It was a pretty impressive-looking crypto farm. Yoshi-P was just laughing rolling around on piles of money the whole time.
