Agreed.
I can't wait for more people to get to the end of the MSQ. I can guarantee you the forums will look VERY different in a couple of weeks. Very, very different.
FF14 has now surpassed FF6 as my all-time favourite. No question.

The MSQ pacing is terrible.
Cutscenes every few minutes to slog through. Escort quests to slow you down. Cliffs to prevent progress and exploration.
70% done with MSQ and seeing the same things repeat over and over again is pretty bad. However, there have been a few very emotional moments.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Without entering spoiler territory, would someone miss massively if they haven’t done Omega and Bahamut raids ?
I’m planning to do them both, I wanted to finish Bozja (rank 21) but idk if the late part of the Bozja questline are relevant in Endwalker. Gonna be hard to find groups too
I would definitely do omega and bahamut if you aren't in a big rush to get to EW endgame.Without entering spoiler territory, would someone miss massively if they haven’t done Omega and Bahamut raids ?

I haven't even hit the halfway point yet and I must 110% agree. Putting aside all the frustration coming from the login issues, I can definitely say that Yoshi and his team have, yet again, outdone themselves. So queues aside which are a major issue it is a pure masterpiece. I had little confidence they could followup Shadowbringers because I have never seen an MMO developer one up themselves after putting up a great release or expansion.
It is inconceivable this was done in 2 years since they launched Shadowbringers. The size is just ridiculous and makes Shadowbringers look small in comparison.
They keep just one upping themselves in the MSQ. Everytime something epic happens it is followed by something even more EPIC.

I've played roughly 8 hours of the story, and I'm very bored with it. Compared to Shadowbringer it's garbage. First 2 hours spent touring a city lol . Now I can't even log in to play after work. Can't convince me it's a masterpiece.

Just past the 3rd dungeon and so far everything has been a step up from Shadowbringers for me. Considering Shadowbringers had a content drought after the initial release I can very easily see this being my favourite FFXIV expansion ... by a decent margin
The biggest negative point for me is that a lot of the encounter design in the leveling dungeons feels incomplete, and an enormous step backwards from SHB. The typical pattern for bosses in this game is they'll show you a couple of unique mechanics, and then in the second half of the fight combine them in interesting ways to trip you up. Many of the encounters simply stop short at the first part, and basically loop one set of extremely basic mechanics for the entire fight.
Part of me speculates that this is due in part to the trust system; The trust system was new in SHB, so they could throw all of the best trust-compatible ideas they had into their dungeons. As time goes on, the pool of fresh and interesting trust-friendly mechanics shrinks more and more, leading to blander and blander encounters.
This is even more pronounced in the expansions trial design, with one of the normal mode trials being a serious.. outlier compared to the other two, in terms of fight quality.
All of that said, the 3 'endgame' dungeons are phenomenal. This will probably be my favorite Expert Roulette set in my time playing this game.
My friend, I thought the same in my first two hours. I thought that Shadowbringers was superior.
Boy, you have no idea what awaits you.
Trust me, you will change your mind.
Unfortunately it does take a long while to start picking up but there's a pretty specific point where it does and it's great. Had me hooked after that barring a few bumps.
