I found a solution, after reading through lots of other forum posts, most people had reported their headset being a Steelseries, if that's the case (Arctis 7 Wireless here) change your default audio device, make sure it says (Game) and not chat for the output. Hope this helps people, cleared up all my direct X 11 issues somehow! Good luck!

Also if that doesn't work, setting output to another device, for starters I just put it through my monitor to try the fix first

This worked like a charm, thank you! Changed Arctis 7 Chat to Arctis 7 Game and the game started up without crashing. Now I just need to defeat the login queue...

If using a PS4 controller, I recommend disabling its audoi bits by opening the sound options in Windows. I'll be testing it for now. I'm sure this solution will do it though.

When I tell you that I have been searching for these errors for TWO DAYS.
I un-installed the entire game and reinstalled it (took 6ish hours because my internet is sub-par), only for it to continue doing it. Randomly found this thread after trying to look things up AGAIN.
For it to be a "change your audio settings" issue.

    I love final fantasy.
    I do.
    I just...
    I hate it right now.

Thank you, at least tonight I won't go to bed at 6am fuming because I can't figure it out.

no such luck on my end. I'm also an arctis 7 user, but for the most part everything was set to have Game as the default device, and switching between it, to something else, and back again did nothing. Dx11 still crashes, or boots with the worst sound distortion. I've been playing via Dx9 since launch, but the crashes and stuttering of the game just makes me wish Dx11 worked again.

    Any other ideas?

I'm not sure if i'm missing a place to change my default device; since i definitely can't change it ingame, I've changed it via Sound Settings and Sound Control Panel, is there something I'm missing?

    Thank you!

I don't know if I've ever posted on the forums before-- but I wanted to say thank you. I don't know how or why any settings might have changed, but switching my default sound device stopped the errors upon login! I was then able to set them back to the way they should be. Bless you. FFXIV's intricacies are so odd, sometimes...
