This is completely normal for an expansion launch for any popular MMO.

Never had this issue with Guild Wars 2 and I think it’s developped by a shit studio

Never read or experienced any issue each time Fortnite released a new season. And God knows Epic is made of greedy pigs.

WoW expansion launches can be rocky yes, but I never experienced this. I spent 1-2h in queue and can’t select my own home world right from the character selection. I have to go through one first queue and then another shit queue just to try to go back to my own home world. 726 minutes, 2nd place and I gave up. Almost 13h just to try to go back to my freaking home server. A problem that has been there since ages and never got an easy fix like putting you back in your home server upon logging out or allowing you to queue directly to the home server.

Covid has a nice back to blame it all on it, but some things could have been anticipated way before.
Same for the pre-orders, it reminds me so much of Airlines companies selling more tickets than available seats on a flight, only to tell you to get a hotel room to wait for the next flight and shit on your plans.

completely agree. my free time is on the weekend so during the week i only have so much time after work to play and do chores so if it was just a matter of log in and wait half hour- an hr in q but walk away to start dinner and do house chores is one thing but you almost feel like you have to babysit the q in case you get bumped out and hopefully quick log back in and retain roughly your place. thats basically my only issue with this experience. not sure if they can do anything to try to fix that if they can that would be awesome but im not well versed in what that takes so dont know if that is something they can do.

Generally speaking, the more people speak up the more they are heard.

I've been around a lot of MMO releases dating back to Vanilla WoW and for the most part these things follow a pretty standard routine. Mass login issues at launch followed by relief as the days go on. I think a lot of people are just tired of the "reasonable" excuses, as they've been used for what, almost 20 years? If you're paying for "early access", you generally tend to expect to be able to play. SE had an idea of what the demand was going to be. There was a decision made around what their server capacity was going to be. I know they're claiming "semi conductor" shortages as the reason here, but I have a hard time with that since this is an issue that's existed for years.
