    Someone has never taken part in a MMO expansion release before.

    Log in queues for release are normal because instead of 10% of the player base trying to get online to play at the same time, it's 80%. They start dying out after 4-5 days. Once players have managed to get into the game and get a taste of the new content, they drift back to their normal log in habits.

    I've been prepared. I log in first then I go make food to eat, call family to chat, play other games, etc. while sitting in queue. The wait is still a bit annoying but still I feel like I've only been in queue a short time when I've really been in queue for over 2 hours because I'm using the time to do other things.

    I'm feeling this as well. It would be nice if the launcher didn't close every time we log in.

    Also, you don't always lose your place in line. I'm battling queue extreme right now.

    First attempt - started at 2600, lost connection at 1100
    Second attempt - started at 3300, lost connection at 1500
    Third attempt - started at 1500 (it saved my queue position), lost connection at 700
    Fourth attempt (where I am as I'm typing this) - started at 700 (again position saved)

    It feel like if the connection issue is game server side, it's saving your place if it can (probably not always possible depending on the type of connection error). It's not saving it if the connection issue is on your end or within the internet routing.

    That billion dollar company is competing with other larger billion dollar companies to purchase products that are not being produced in near the quantities needed. Contrary to what many people believe, money can't buy what is not available.

    Labelling things you disagree with as "right wing" just shows the type of troll you really are. The fact of the matter is that it doesn't make sense as a business to pay to upgrade hardware when the prices are exorbitant due to shortages. If any business were to act in the way you think they should, they would go out of business due to wasting money. And then there's the fact that we're still in a pandemic situation which makes getting their employees to install new hardware a non-trivial issue. But hey, prove that you really know nothing and just want to make baseless assumptions.

    SE is not my friend. They are a company and business. A business will not spend money unless it has too. They can and will also lie.


    Do I trust this company? No, but I'm not going to say they have done everything they could to prevent this, because really I don't know. The only thing I know is that the answers they come up with don't work, and this system is poorly design. From a consumer stand point. No amount of understanding can make this feel any better. A chip shortage, and all that is understandable. The losing your spot in the queue. Now that is unacceptable and it should be 5 mins instead of the 1.

    You are showing with this statement you have no idea how the world works. Perhaps you need to learn how it does before you post more. A company can't just outbuy another company to get something that doesn't even exist. You can't just make things appear out of thin air.

    I could understand you being upset if they gave you no warning of the problems they would face. But they did so you have to live with it for now.

    Lol don’t try to reason with these people Covid blah, you are telling me a multi billion dollar company called SE can’t find server. My hunch is they don’t want to invest as much, for the right price anyone will sell you anything

    My hunch tell me they didn’t want to invest as much capital to accommodate the peak surge, which I believe is so short sided. All eyes were on this expansion this hasn’t been smooth at all.

    Server congestion issue aside this 2002 that reset your queue position if they were aware of it and still lunched , there are questions that needs to be asked. They should have at least fixed that

    I felt I had to say something about this.

    There are literally no servers to buy anywhere. Not only are Amazon's and Facebook's data centers eating so many pieces of server hardware that it's hard to get any anyways, but there is a worldwide semiconductor shortage on top of that, plus an inflow of so many players before this launch that the population DOUBLED in just over a year.

    And for most of these messages complaining here, they come from my fellow WoW refugees, which seemingly still haven't let go of their toxicity. Please stay away from FF14 if all you can do is continue whining. Or, better, make a character on a server not on your continent and you might notice that there is suddenly free spots because people in Asia are friggin asleep or at work themselves when you log in in the evening.

    Use your brains during one of the BIGGEST LAUNCHES IN HISTORY FOR ONE OF THE BIGGEST PLAYERBASES. First world problems, seriously.
