I see that some of the older games in this forum are waxing nostalgic for the good old days.

Nice to see that young ones were enjoying EQ and WoW. Brings back memories of shouting defiance at one of the major bosses in Scepter of Goth, only to be drawn into their presence by a DM that was online. I survived the encounter, but that was when online multiplayer games were brand new, and everyone knew everyone else personally (with 16 players max at a time, this was much easier).

Moral: Someone who thinks that your time in this game isn't as good as they remember past games is probably thinking back to their 'first time', rather than yours.

Yeah nostalgia can definitely impact our memories and give us "rose-tinted glasses", there's no doubt there. That said I really don't think that there's any argument to be made that mmorpgs shouldn't be easily playable without interacting with the MMO element. Like what's the point with no community interaction, and how are you going to encourage community interaction without going back to the "dark ages" of LFG channels other than requiring coordination to succeed in PvE??? If you can find a way to encourage meaningful interaction that doesn't involve making PvE content more punishing then I'm all ears, because I think that's already a step in the right direction. At least if you can't steam-roll the content, people are incentivized to help newer / worse players to learn stuff like rotations / boss fights instead of just flaming them and getting coddled by LFG finding them another group that might as well be AI in an offline game within minutes.

Community interaction depends on your server and datacenter. Crystal datacenter has an active community but that's cause it's the RP datacenter.

you need a break I agree with him the dungeons are story and the story is casual content. savage and ultimates are the hard stuff. Do not bring up BDO and Tera those are called grind mobs over and over for gear so you can smash someone over the head with it in PVP. I dont consider BDO an MMO if anything its a single player game with no reason to group with anyone and you can occasionally be ganked. WOW best combat but the Game depth of a puddle.

I complained about the FATEs 6 years ago. I was sick of them. They made me take roughly a 2 year break from the game because it was 90% FATE farming. Now we gotta farm 360 FATEs if you want to unlock all the stuff from the gemstone vendors and 10,000 more FATEs if you want to buy all the items from them. Wanna make a relic? FATEs. New event coming up soon? FATEs. Another endgame instanced area? FATEs. Yeah, nothing's really changed.

Gaius van Baelsar: Nor is this unknown to your masters. Which prompts the question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?

Challenges only stay challenging until players learn them then your back at square one. Which is "This is boring and there is no challenge" one of the oldest axiom's of gaming..

Demons souls was hard when it was released. Now you got players who can 1 and 2 shot the games toughest bosses making even so called hardcore players look like noobs.

For some reason dungeon difficulty is aimed at just above anything with a pulse , this is what inclusive gone too far looks like. If you like self punishment like I do just run a raid static or take less than 4 ppl into POTD or HOH. Raids are the only thing that can drive me here , it’s the reason to level all crafters and gatherers to 90 so you can fully support your team, it’s the reason to become rich otherwise Gil is pointless. If Savage didn’t exist here I would be gone long ago but over 10k hrs later I’m still here chasing the thrill of the kill. I hope they add some kind of extra challenging 4 man content beyond just a POTD type, something worth the time too I’m not into the knock off chucky cheese games.

Go for the necromancer title by clearing PoTD solo floor 1-200. Very few have managed it..

It´s not about "something needs to stay challenging". Of course stuff isn´t going to be a challenge anymore when you´ve done it dozens of times. But in SE you´re going to jump in 98% of all content blind and finish it first try, maybe second if your whole team sucks hard.
Savage isn´t even better since SE doesn´t come up with something challenging or interesting but the same stack/ spread / aoe nonsense combined with one-shot mechanics if someone doesn´t stay on his mark.

Pretty much any mechanics are highly obvious, has endless castbars and everything is telegraphed. On top we´re catered with a bunch of downtimes and endless cutszenes to get ride of "maybe caused debuffs" or just to reg mana on casterclasses. It´s a shame.

When add-bigpulls are harder than anything else, something is clearly wrong.

Away from the 396 Fates to unlock all vendors + what you need to buy all the stuff... they brought a new Mount you have to do 3572 Fates for, unless you´re willing to pay 150 000 Gil for each certificate on the market board. (Current prize) Just saying, you need 500. And that´s only Endwalker at its beginning... don´t forget about 3000 Fates in SHB.

I’ve been workin on it ran a 3 man to the end then me and the wife tried 2 of us and got hard denied by Behemoth. My team used to be second on the Primal data center long long ago when it first came out. Since then my latest team is about 10th team down , tbh we would be higher if we knew everything that contributes to the score very frustrating that they are not transparent about that many secrets we’ve discovered by testing. Anyhow it’s almost raid season now POTD is content for when we hit the droughts for me.
