This launch is a mess.

I was so excited to play Endwalker but honestly this launch is not it. I paid for the expansion and pay a monthly sub not to spend hours in a queue every time I have some time to spare and hop on FFXIV.

I know the context and I know the reasons. I know that Square Enix is dealing with the highest number of simultaneous players in FFXIV history. I know that there is a global chip shortage. But none of that makes the current state of the game sting less.

The measures Square Enix is employing to deal with the launch are not enough and this feels bad.

I have cancelled my subscription because I'm a staunch believer of voting with your wallet. I'll resubscribe when the game is in a better state.

None of the options on the survey when I cancelled my subscription described my reason so I just wanted to communicate why I'm cancelling my subscription to the FFXIV team on the forums.

I really love this game and I love the content the FFXIV team gives us but I can't in good faith pay a monthly subscription just to be shoved into a several-hours long queue that may or may not kick me out of the queue for any number of error codes whenever I want to play.

I am 100% fine on queuing but that 3001 error message preventing me from even queueing make me furious

im new to the game, been playing a week, so this is all new to me, didnt even know there was an expansion coming out, im queueing for 2 hours from 4.5k to 2.5k for me too be booted, this is not good.
no game should have these issues on release. imagine if it was a CD to return to the shop, it would never be in release state like this.

They've already released an official statement saying that they would have liked to add additional servers for this but due to the global superconductor shortage, they couldn't procure the necessary equipment. This is only the first weekend. It will lighten up as people progress farther/the newness dies down some. The huge influx of players from other games in addition to returning players that haven't played since they finished the last Shadowbringers patch also account for a large part of the queue.

What they would have liked to do doesn't justify the state of the game.

They are charging more people for a service than they can serve.

If I own a food business selling burgers, and only have ingredients to sell 5 burgers, then I sell 5 burgers. I don't charge 20 people for a burger each then deliver 1/4 of a burger to each paying customer.

A shame the visit another world feature is effectively worthless as a work-around as it won't even work... assuming you could even find a quieter server... but it can't even go that far.

That's what they said, yes, though they recognised in advance that the population of the North American servers would grow over time and took steps to future proof those servers. The same thing should have done for the European datacentre in order to account for sudden population bursts.

I suspect it comes down to what they were willing to spend more than anything else.

And it is a shame, because so far, it's very good when you can log in.

I agree completely. Unless I am a no lifer who sits on the server all day I can't play. This isn't friendly to those of us who have families/careers who want to spend their weekend playing. This launch is a mess and I expected stuff like this from Blizzard, not Square. Very disappointed.

like everyone that's frustrated ive spent 6 hours in que today, right around the 3 hour part the que times out. so i wait from a que of 5k down to about 1200 then it cuts out i restart the que quickly and im back at 4600.

i Took vacation time to enjoy the game but i havent been able to login once since the "pre release" started. is SE going to cover my wage loss at this point? because i cannot play the dang thing i took time to enjoy? we know the answer is No they wont do a thing to fix this issue. just wait it out because it actually costs money to fix this launch failure.

in comparison ive played wow for about 15 years on and off not once did i have actual issues logging in and enjoying some time in the game yes there were server crashes but overall i could play. and this is sad to say but im a 1.0 player even 1.0 functioned better than this...

what wage loss? you took vacation which is paid, and when you go back to work you will be paid. there is no wage lost. sensationalism much?
