This launch is a mess.

All you complainers pay or paid for a service that is not guaranteed to be available at any given moment. Like, duh. It's part and parcel of playing an online game.

So cancel your subs or stomp your feet, toss your toys out of the pram; that's totally your prerogative. If you want to cut off your nose to spite your face, have at it.

But, don't act like you didn't know, couldn't have found out, expected X to be available at Y time, etc. If you're ignorant of how this stuff works, that's on you. The information is out there.

Online games don't work like that. Learn this mantra going forward. Online... games... don't... work... like... that. Online games may or may not be available at any given time. Online games may be down for extended periods. Online games during xpac launches will be subject to queues, long queues, really long queues, disconnects, bugs, etc., etc.

That's reality. If you're frustrated it's only because you've created a narrative in your head about FFXIV being available 24/7 bug free with short queues and no disconnects. And if you think you should have any of the preceding, you're mistaken. See the above paragraph and ANY terms of service for ANY online game.

Square clearly sold way more pre-access than they had actual server capacity for, basic consumer laws here in the UK cover that stuff, its nothing to do with it " just being a online video game" , its a product and they charge for its use it IS covered by laws ANYTHING involving a monetary transaction is.

okay apologist, kissing ass won't make a better project. Honest criticism does and yes it is bullshit they didn't prepare better. They pulled the release date back and it still wasn't ready. It looked like more time went into server error codes over the actual servers which they have done maintenance for multiple times. I don't expect bug free, i expect to be able to use the product i paid for and pay monthly for. That is what the sub is for, for smoother servers and a less buggy experience over free to play. If this continues, they better start refunding subs as an apology to the player base. I agree that free to play should be disabled during this time to deal with congestion until it is stable

Oh, boy... It`1s like a Final Fantasy: New World.

2 weeks delayed and still - not working. Connection lobby error after 3 hours of waiting, then - again and again. All day I just sitting here, hoping for miracle that doesn`t happen.
Yoshida-san and his team fuc*up really hard this time.

Holding queue position, layering, player prioritizing - nah, didn`t ever hear about that.
I know one game - and know it very well - which started doing stuffs like this... and what do you think - were this game now?

That's a shame, really.

To me they could have limited the number of pre-orders/early access and capped the sales of them to a more suitable number in this case.

To all you people who probably came over from World of Warcraft and deciding to bash on Square Enix. This launch is and always will be better than the miserable Shadowlands launch for WoW. I love how you have a log-in queue, and it's immediately complaining. You guys really need to just chill. This has actually been pretty smooth. I don't mind waiting for a game to let me login on a quality game. They actually put in effort to stop DDoS oh and try to maintain server stability. And when is the last time you've seen a game breaking bug? Activision-Blizzard let old raid content go for YEARS with never fixing a thing about it. Causing everyone doing Achievements to quit cause hey, broken as hell. But, no Square Enix is the issue right? Must be. Not the fact that there's a super conductor shortage or anything. Or the fact that Asmongold showed you guys this game in the first place. Stop whining and enjoy a better game when you get a chance to get on. Maybe stop flooding the logins with ALL OF YOU trying at the same exact time over and over. That's how you break a launch of a new expansion. Monday it'll be better when the kiddies go back to school. Take a damn chill pill. SE is doing their best with the original crowd and now the WoW crowd. Cut the toxic crap or go somewhere else.

Yup exactly, this is Squares fault NOT Yoshi's FFXIV team, This exact issue is what causes so many games to fail the company wants more money than what the producers, Dev team can keep up with.

Not been playing long, like 6 months or so, but my time here as been amazing, the game itself delivers more than could ever be expected, this early access problem as put a very dark cloud over it, already regretting paying for early access and preparing my time to really delve into it.

Up to now my 2 days of "early access" have been over 10 hours stuck in a login queue's.....not anything like what I expected.....would've been nice to have actually played

Like I'm just giving the FFXIV team feedback that the current state of logging in feels bad and here you are throwing a fit about how everyone is a delusional snowflake for wanting to play a game that they pay for, which is a perfectly reasonable thing to want.

Literally wasn't toxic, I was just giving feedback and voting with my wallet. And Activision/Blizzard is a really low bar to compare FFXIV to but if you see the two as worth comparing then you do you.
