Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

I am very happy about bunnymen, but this expansion is just so weird to me. They have reskins of multiple gear for instance, viera only got 6 hairstyles and honestly most of them do not look good (there is a strange bump on the legacy one, the 2B band is ...ooof) and they added a bunch of companion mechanics during the story to "show you around areas" and whatnot that couldve just been avoided but instead now take up alot of ones time. I spent hours playing yesterday before finally reaching a dungeon. Some of their choices are just strange to me and this with the hairs for viera is one of them.

In my opinion, I would say that they're simply testing hairstyles from in-game, unlockables and mogstation for both genders in their servers. I mean, while there's issue of the battleready hairstyle for female Viera(should have simply remove the hairband), the rest are pretty normal to me. I'm glad that they added the hairstyle in your avatar though. Hopefully, we'll get more hairstyles in future patches. Strange bump?

The one I am using atm has a bump in the back from certain angles. I dont know how to describe it, but it is like the skull is lifted there. The lightning and the karen one look fine, while the ponytail is horrible. The 9s is fine but I never liked it to begin with and the 2B is just.....I dont understand why they would do it like that, it feels very unfinished.

I like the pony tail though, rofl. Hmm, well, it makes her looking like how women used to look back in the 60's. I guess is simply because Viera heads obviously have different head meshs to say the Elezen for example. Like, when I mod hairstyles for the Khajiit in Skyrim using Humanoid hairstyles, you had to adjust the hairstyles using Outfit studio program to fit on the Khajiit heads. The Humanoid races in Skyrim all use the same head mesh btw with different face gen data. obviously that's not the case in FFXIV which each race have their own unique head mesh. By "bump" if you mean the bump at the top-back of the hair then it's always been there. I think that the rabbit ears makes it more obvious to see than in say the Elezen like here.

Everyone except Miqo'te has a massive awful conehead with that hairstyle. I'm glad it seems to fit better on Viera, I can explain away the slightly more noticeable bump on the back as back-combing in my mind.

Me too, rofl. The ears does give this feeling as well.

I guess it depends on the face really. Mine isn't bad at all.


I mean, to be fair, all of the races seem to have big foreheads with the hairstyle as well like Lalafell and etc.

I think the hairstyle on your bunny looks pretty bad, it looks fine on the hyur though.

no, its pretty bad. that hairstyle in general is just ugly all ways around.
