I like them tbh, gives a feeling of a more rpg game, and gives more time communicating with characters we otherwise barely have time with. I can see why some people might not like it I guess, but I myself enjoy them.

The "Tracks in the Snow" one is by far the worst that I've experienced so far.
Escort Quests > Kill Quests
That said, they need to be designed well, which they rarely are.

I had lost my npcs so many times now.
And long loading problems due to congestion has made it even worse.
I don't mind having the NPCs accompany me.
I do mind having to start the entire walk over from scratch and listen to all the boring dialog bits again because I was needed elsewhere for 10 minutes, or because the NPCs can't be bothered to attune to the aethernet we had passed by 5 minutes ago even though I did.
It's one thing when an escort quest is about protecting the NPC on a trip from one location to another but it's entirely needless when they're doing no more than behaving like toddlers looking for attention and when they lose your attention for 30 seconds they throw a tantrum.
because once yoshi-p does something it just keeps going till you are sick of it, do you remember duty actions on raids? or dual bosses on final bosses for savage? or "shoot that random thing"?
