Regarding Congestion During Endwalker’s Launch

What I don't get is new worlds, big deal. Anyone remember when Balmung and Gilgamesh were together. New world means jack if it isn't a whole new data centre.



The only thing they should be embarrassed about is not fixing auto log out. They have had almost a decade now. But barring that the server restart. Shouldn't this be a no brainer. Like really ques are garbage and people can bypass them. Announce server resets before the expansion and just do it. If ques are manageable turn it off. Don't wait for the shit show, start shovelling now.

It seems based on the post linked at the start of this thread they have made fixes to it.

In order to ease congestion, players who are inactive for 30 minutes will be automatically logged out. This feature has been updated in Patch 6.0 and has been enhanced from the previous version

I'm more surprised you thought it was going to go smooth. They had a massive boom in population around August which pretty much blind sided them they had no idea all those dominos would fall in their favor they've been trying to prep for it every since then while also touching up one of their biggest expansions ever. Cut them some slack

WHAT this is an outrage, I can't BELIEVE a highly successful mmorpg is going to be congested during it's most highly anticipated expansion of it's career-I can't believe they arent prepared for the hundreds of thousands of players they abruptly gained during covid via boredom + high profile streamers dropping in oh I, oh I! What do you mean they dont have the resources, they're RICH just go buy, just go buy-no I dont know how any of it works but just go buy! Just go buy new servers what are you doing! Yoshi is relaxing. I can't believe he's relaxing. At a time like this!! He's just sitting there! No other games have queues when they launch things-oh they do? Ok well once again, Square enix is rich. Yoshi, just go buy, just go to best buy. Just go to best buy, they probably have like 10. You just missed black friday, what were you doing? He's just sitting there!! Unprofessional, final fantasy fourteen is so unprofessional, they only warned us 27 times about congestion issues and apologized 30 when what they should have been doing is simply going down to Walmart and buying new servers. I still have queue times, small one but they are present. I am shocked if anyone thought queue times were not gong to be a thing.

We would like to share some information regarding the congestion that may occur during the Early Access period and release of Endwalker.

Since the launch of a new expansion is when a large number of players will be playing for extended periods of time, we are expecting far more simultaneous logins compared to usual. Furthermore, following a dramatic increase in the player base in all regions since this summer, we are currently experiencing record numbers of active users, and therefore are expecting a number of logins that is yet to be seen since the launch of FFXIV.

In preparation for these predictions, we optimised our servers ahead of the expansion’s launch in order to increase login caps. On the other hand, due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors we have previously mentioned, we were unable to add new Worlds before the release of Endwalker. The addition of new Worlds will still be considered as we procure the necessary server machines.

As such, there is a high likelihood of congestion that will result in Worlds reaching maximum login capacity and lengthy wait times when logging in. We would like to apologise for making this sort of announcement at a time when many of you are looking forward to the expansion, as well as for inconveniences that may be caused by congestion.

Although we were unable to add new Worlds, we have implemented every other measure that was possible, such as replacing the matching servers with higher-performance machines, optimising processes, increasing processing speeds, and raising the number of simultaneous logins. We will further enhance our monitoring of the situation to allow for as many players as possible to log in. We ask for your understanding and cooperation regarding this matter.

It REALLY sucks they knew about this for a while and are announcing this 3 freaking days before early access.

I think any rational player expects congestion during an expansion launch but this post reads very fatalistically. Basically: Set your expectations as low as possible.

There's nothing new or unexpected in this. Of course there are going to be long queue lines when the game comes back up for endwalker.

It feels like they just put out that post to give some people a heads up about what occurs almost every expansion launch. Everyone except maybe the OP and some folks that are going to flock to reddit or the OF when they have a queue knew that these things were going to happen anyway.
