Can we take action against Bard Macro Player yet?

I find bard player useful for another reason, aside from 'pretending to have musical talent.'

It's more of you can force your friends to listen to your music and share your tastes.

Also, sitting down to someone playing in a quieted down Limsa under the moon or in the night of a IRL winternight, is a calm relaxing immersion.

You can basically tell who's not actually playing. If I have to hear "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal one more time. That just makes me want to snatch it from their hands and crack their instrument over their head. It's obvious who has talent, when all you hear in the cities is the same ole songs being played over and over. lol I could turn off performance but I'm listening for actual playing at the same time.

I get it, some people aren't musically talented enough, some just want to play songs, and I feel that is fine if you are just playing for your friends and such.

But what bothers me is when you pretend you ARE playing songs and acting as if you are so great because you let a third party tool play it for you.

It's really annoying walking into towns and just hearing it sound like people just throw midi keyboards down a flight of stairs.

There are people, such as myself, who actually practice playing these songs, and we get immediately overshadowed by people who just press play on a program. There is no competition, we lose because it's impossible for us to play songs at a normal place without either conforming to third party software ourselves, or hooking up an actual midi keyboard (which I would be more okay with!).

I think the bard macro playing has gotten way out of hand. It's really annoying and off putting.


Playing songs is one of my favorite things to do in FFXIV, I practice for hours every single day, and now I have to turn off performance completely because it just isn't fun anymore trying to play music for people, but getting immediately decimated by someone who can press play, make a sandwich and come back without putting any effort into learning any song what so ever.

Open up your menu, goto system menu goto sound settings, goto "performance" move slider to "0", fixed your issue, while allowing others to enjoy the game and the social enviroment.

Well I will say this as someone who has cleared souls with 0 deaths and without mods of any kind. Also as someone who at most would use a 3rd party tool to hook up to a real keyboard for performances..

Doing things for "archivements" shouldnt really exist personaly i believe archivements are slowly killing the gaming industry. You should do it because you enjoy the action not because you get some stupid trophy or bragging rights. So honestly when those are made invalid i find it funny ppl cry like that matters

I did a dark souls 2 no death/no bonfire run solely because I found out there were cosmetic items you got for doing it (the rings that made the items in your left and right hands invisible) and it was really fun but not something I would have done normally because I'm not normally a sort of challenge run player - but I am a gimmick build player and as such, I really wanted those rings.

At no point would I feel upset if someone told me they just used cheat engine to get those rings. In fact, I would have to congratulate that person for taking the faster and easier route than I did.
