It happens in WoW too, at least in extreme cases. It's just more tolerated there I guess. I don't really understand what the big deal is though. Just...don't curse? I curse outside of the game more than I probably should, but putting my filter on while playing an MMO isn't difficult by any means.

some people might curse out of sheer habit when they make a mistake and/or get annoyed at themselves - and it's no big deal either to not blow a single expletive out of proportion when it's aimed at nobody or just themselves
I could very well say, just don't report? because most, if not everyone, has cursed in their life at one point, and reporting someone because they used it because they made a mistake, is very very very petty and childish, in my eyes

I did actually remember a game which bans you for minor things if you're unlucky: rocket league! I got banned for calling myself a dumb idiot on there, once! didn't even use a swear word

I curse out of habit too, probably to the point that a drunken sailor would look at me in complete disgust. That doesn't give me any excuse to toss an expletive out at random in game or on these forums, knowing full well that it's against the ToS. And I would probably never report anyone for swearing unless they take it to certain extremes. Seriously, I truly don't care 99.99999% of the time. I think a lot of people feel this way. But the simplest solution is still the best one. Just don't do it.

neither would I, report someone for something minor like that or curse ingame, but from various experiences, we know that there's many people who do both, sadly
