Nobody in DR uses essences anyway, so they might as well make it a regular duty.

And OP, yes, the drops in PotD are still stupidly RNG. I was getting relic drops there a couple weeks ago and I had a point I went 51-100 3 times without a single drop. Then ran 1-10 for the lulz and got a drop. They really need to buff the rates there. Getting through DR for the quest will still be necessary but there will at least be a better alternative for the drops.
DR was not the only step at any point though. There's dungeons and POTD.
The future proofing makes sense for CLL and Dalriada because they're CEs that don't have a required number of players. You could load into them mow with just a few people.
DR however is an instance with a set number of players, just like an alliance raid.



They really don't have to do anything because valor exists. Plus DR normal doesn't have boss enrages compared to savage, so they don't even need to add echo. I doubt they'd do anything to DR savage as well, since they made it scale down to 24 (although the trash mobs don't scale but that isn't a big deal)
BA didn't get a single nerf, and that content has always been thriving, more so during content downtime.

- The maximum waiting time to enter has been set to 10 minutes.
Once the time limit has been reached, players will enter the duty even if they have not reached the maximum party size of 24.- Parties comprised of less than 24 players will be granted the power of the Echo.
The strength of the Echo is determined by the number of players matched. Fewer players will result in a stronger Echo effect.

Rather fair update, echo only for undersized, and it'll force wait to try to get as many as possible. Savage gets left alone to preserve.

Honestly this was more than I expected and it's surprisingly good. DR is already easy to beat even without the full 24 people. With a few essences and such, giving a group the echo will blow DR normal out of the water which means the resistance weapon grind is preserved.
