The problem is that there's no real opportunity to vote kick before then. All those mobs that everyone skips in the first two rooms? You're still considered in combat with them until you take the elevator with the magitek armors.

Like I said, while fighting Nero ... by that time there are no mobs engaging in combat. Rather than rushing to the escalator platform, a judicious vote to kick can occur after any one of the following cut scenes.

Gotta get hasty with the vote dismisses, I haven't done that content in over a year or so but immediately after some cut scenes the vote can occur.

I've honed my vote kick skills to be timed right between the Nero and Gaius fights.
Everyone is moved out of combat regardless of there they were. It's a pretty good point in which someone has spent a decent amount of time and to get nothing out of it too.

Never AFKd there on purpose, but I have made the mistake of falling asleep to wake up to the end and everyone gone.

Usually because I left it till the last roulette of the night when tired, and the cutscenes are just so easy to sleep to x.x

honestly it can be frustrating, though i dont see it that often at all best we can do is actively kick someone who do it. i still prefer prea over castrum by far so and again i dont see it often. now if someone communicates that they have to run real quick or something it dont bother me so much because they are at least saying something to communicate with the group an issue.

How about the people that prep the group with an excuse for going afk right in the beginning?

"Hey guys, glad to be here...you all are great...I've got pizza coming, might have to go afk briefly, please don't kick!"

I get it. We all get it, it's boring if you've run it several hundred times or more but still it's both stupid and arrogant to believe you're so important that 7 other people should have to run it without you because you're far too "busy" to help. Stupid because there will always be people like me who will call you out for being afk and then get you kicked from the group. Enjoy the queue as dps again.

It's always dps players too. Never had another tank or any healer go afk.

You know what you do with those ppl? you wait until the last boss and kick them before facing Laharbread. Make them waste 40 minutes (even though they are not actually playing, they still expect to get something out of it)

I generally try to check on them in chat because someone could be legitimately afk. It's also not common even when a group knows they're afk to boot them, because that slows down the break neck speed. So I think most skate by just by that sometimes.

I've been randomly running this for the special tomes for the past few weeks. Every run has 1 afk person. Most of the time we can't get them vote kicked because someone already pulls the boss.

Also I would like to say that PC players using the ALT-F4 (exploit imo) to skip cutscenes is on the rise.

I don't see it often but it does happen. And yeah, it's usually a dps. They aren't as front in center as healers and tanks are.

During this irregular tomestone event alone I've been to seven runs of Prae where one of the healers would afk. Yeah they're front and center, but they just use the justification that you don't need more than 1 healer for it.
