Why Do People Set Oddly High iLvls for Party Finder?

I'm currently looking at a Cinder Drift Extreme group that has been waiting for any healer for a while to start up.

    I have a healer.

I also have 46 clears on Cinder Drift Extreme.

But my healing gear is secondary and 5 ilvls behind the PF requirement. Messaged the Recruiter and...no response or change.

Why do parties put high ilvl requirements on easier content? I can see ilvl 510 to weed out the people who haven't put minimal effort into their gear, but beyond that it just hinders group formation.

Most people don't think about this. If they did, the [One player per job] function wouldn't ever be used.
So the answer really comes down to people not thinking. "more is better" is all they know!

Tbh 520 is so easy to get now that I'd say that's bare minimum effort lol.

I always find it odd to see people in lower ilvl gear who have clearly not just recently dinged.

More ilvl = more dps even if the guy is terrible like most pf players, nothing more than that.

Because they want to clear it with as little issues as possible.

Higher ilvl means higher HP surviving mistakes, as well as higher damage output.

This late in the expansion I have 520 on at least 1 job in every single role at this point and that's being extremely casual.

With a mix of Exarchic for the weapons and a few gear pieces and tome gear.

In the hopes of having clean fast runs because higher ilvl leads to more damage. 520 gear is super easy to get now anyway. You have regular tome gear, upgraded exarchic gear and even alliance raid gear.

The bolded part is your likely answer. Players with averagely mediocre performance can still pull their own weight considerably the better their gear are; it's like one-third of their total effort. Besides, it's PF. Players get to be picky unlike in DF. Unless you are a friend to that Recruiter who knows you can perform your job well even with less iLv, it's only natural for them to be wary & not go for it.

It really doesn't hinder anything when 520-530 can be obtained so easily. You have Nier, augmented crafted, the Relic, 525 Bozja gear and augmented Cryptlurker which can be upgraded to 530 with 2 easy sources. A player can reach up to 530 without stepping foot in Savage.

The "high" requirements are not intended to fill an EX group with Legends and Savage raiders, they're intended to fill a group with players who are on a main that they've invested some basic effort into and not a fresh alt or character who barely hit 80. There is very low demand for min-ilv blind alt runs. Most casual players just want to clear.

Just because you hit the bare minimum ilv requirements set by the devs, does not mean you're ready to hop into whatever group you like with no preparation.

As someone who personally sets ilvl 528 for my respective Extreme/Savage farms - usually that ilvl means the DPS will likely be more consistent and the boss will die faster.

Edenmorn gear is relatively easy to get nowadays since the unlocks and echo release in the recent-ish patch - as is crafted/augmented/whatevertheheck pieces.

It is because they want an easy carry.
