I want to thank you for this. I actually use this site regularly to shut down people who propose foolish solutions to housing problems by showing them just how little it would actually help using hard data. The only thing that will fix the housing problem is more houses.

This bears repeating. Since I hear a lot of complaints about shell FCs and solo FCs. People need to put this into perspective. It's not as big of a problem as gets blown up on these forums. It accounts for less than one percent of the overall total of plots.

Did you actually read anything in this thread? 1 person FCs account for less than 1% of current housing.

Also, how do you define 'alive FCs'? What about a 10 man FC is better than a 4 man FC? Are small FCs automatically not active or alive?

To clarify, the .8% is part of the 2.75% increase in Free Company houses since March. Personal housing tends to make the % of FC houses go down when new wards are released. As time advances, FC housing has always managed to reclaim the % it lost to personal housing.

The actual % of FC houses with less than 4 members, when compared to all the available plots, is 6.93% (27,173/391,680). If you want to ignore the JP servers, the % drops to 5.51% (11,445/207,360) for NA and EU combined. That % melts away if you start excluding FCs based on rank and/or even lower membership.

A fair point! Thank you for the clarification. 6.9% still doesn't rise to the level of emergency that some hyperbolic commenters like to say it does.

Free Companies with no house in July 2020 that own a house in November 2021

Loading might be slow since I didn't cache the data.

- Dead FCs tend to stay dead. The older they are, the more dead they stay!
- The ones that do make a comeback tend to end up in smalls.
- Somehow Shirogane is the 2nd most popular spot, ahead of Mist and LB.
- There's a significant increase in membership in most cases (solo FCs are nearly wiped out).
- The top 10 plots for those FCs are all within the goblet.
- Japan, despite having a lot more dead FCs making a comeback than NA/EU, is dragging way behind in terms of additional membership.

Thanks to Google and their latest update to GDS, I was finally able to complete the Free Company report from November. This one includes all the FCs, not just the ones with a house.
