Yoshi P mentioning that we'd be thinking "We're going THAT far?" kind of suggests me that we'll be going to another continent entirely in 7.x.

I'm leaning towards Meracydia given that it's gotten much more mention then the New World as far as overall lore goes, but we know next to nothing of the land's state in the present day aside from the fact that Tiamat's brood still resides there as the lorebook noted that the locals have been too hostile towards the outside world for scholars to learn much of anything.

Not to mention that while we may have made headway in snuffing out the primal threat in Aldenard, the same does not hold true in the rest of the world and the coming of the Final Days may have instigated the summoning of even more primals.

"The rumored return of a certain fellow is planned for 6.1 onwards." Yoshi-p from most recent live letter.

The question is probably who is this certain fellow? Since they are returning, I assume we already know them? Since fellow was a translation, was that a confirmation they are male?

Gosetsu tops my list, but could it be someone else?

I think we can best assess where the next part of the story is going once we know where the "rumored return of a certain fellow" has returned from.

He was talking about Hildibrand, apparently "fellow" could've also been translated as "gentleman" from what I've seen in some circles.

I hear a lot of talk about the Dragon Star and the Omega star and honestly these do not really interest me at the moment, we just had a shard hoping expansion and i would rather focus on the source for two or three more expansions, especially after the literal end of the world it will be interesting to see and deal with some of the aftermath. I have also seen some people mention they want to explore more of Eorzea and honestly I would like to move more away from it in the next expansions and explore more of the locations on the source we have heard about but not gone to. especially since most major archs there seem to be wrapping up with Endwalker. I also think it is heavily implied at this point that the Silver tear lake storyline will factor into the Mysteries of the Twelve raid series.

As mentioned on this thread part of the reason the zones in Endwalker are so hyped is because we have heard about Sharlyan, Garlemald, Thravnir, and even the moon for years now, it certainly makes me more hyped for them than zones I have never heard about before. At the top of my Wishlist and what I honestly think 7.0 should focus on is Ilsabard. Those clouds are still covering the world map and I honestly feel Ilsabard will suffer the most damage on the Three continents after the end of days as it was already devastated by the Garlean War of succession and now is disorganized compared to Eorzea which has formed the Grand Company and even Orthard which still has the budding Eastern Alliance. The fall of the Garlean Empire also leaves a power vacuum that could be filled by various new powers. I also want Landis to be a Hub city since I really want there to be at least one magiteck city in the game that is not destroyed. There are also various locations in Orthard that we still haven't gone to like the rest of Hingashi. Also as people have mentioned there is Meracydia which I would like to see explored more in the future since again, it has been mentioned for years.

Ilsabard is also what I'm really hoping for. So many people seem to forget about a lot of the things you mentioned and Ilsabard has so much potential especially for a more grounded story after the high stakes of the Zodiark and Hydaelyn story. There could be potential conflicts between former imperial provinces and there's I think 7 unnamed legati that have never been mentioned. Lots of potential interesting areas and themes that could be explored in Ilsabard like Corvos and Landis. It's probably likely that everything in Ilsabard will be wrapped up neatly and perfectly entirely off-screen though since we're skipping the entire continent to get to Garlemald.

I was originally disapointed that we would not be exploring anywere else in Ilsabard this expansion besides Garlemald proper but then i began to realize, what if the reason they did Garlemald before the rest of Ilsabard was so they could tell more interesting and original stories then just more liberation stoylines like SB (they have stated they are not doing anymore of those) since we have had about 4 maybe 5 of them if you count the Ivalice raid series at this point. Think about it, since it most likely experience the most destruction in the final days since they were already in a weakened and disorganized state compared to the other continents thanks to the Garlean Civil War.

Imagine entirely new nations forming in the wake of the final days, for the sake of it lets say three for a parallel with the original city stapes, one of them Corvos gains its independence offscreen and returns to its roots like Doma, one of them Landis has more ties to the Garleans operating as a sort of Constantinople to Garlemalds Rome and maybe even run by a former legatus similar to what Gabranth was trying to do with Dalmascus, and finally a completely new nation that was founded in the wake of the events of Endwalker, not entirely to hard to believe considering the circumstances, maybe it can be seen more fanatical or even just different people coming together like with the Crystarium. These three factions are in constant tension and maybe even conflict with each other due to dwindling resources and the Chaos that has enveloped Ilsabard. From this we get an actual human war story of a more morally grey human conflict to contrast with SB which showed humanities capability for cruelty. With the original Grand companies now being formed into one large one proper these three new factions fill their role going forward.

Ilsabard gets leveling zones tied to each and maybe the PvP system gets completely revamped or has more focus set on it, something the devs have stated they have wanted to do for a while. The player takes on the role of a mercenary in this conflict (and can work for any of the three at anytime) while the true MQS, dungeon, raids, etc are separated from the three and deal with more overarching narratives. there have been some minor choices in popping up in side content, maybe this is the new territory the devs are going to. Yeah i know this is really stretching it and sounds more like a pipedream but i just want an Ilsabard expansion and i feel a more down to earth storyline that deals with the aftermath of the final days is more interesting after endwalker then imediatley going to the new world or the Dragon Star or other shards, give the game's story, characters, and worldbuilding room to breathe.

I'm thinking Meracydia too. There are far too many things in this game linking there, giving it a ton of possibilities for where we could go with the story. If they decide to retire the majority of the Scions with us keeping maybe 1 or 2 (Alisaie and G'raha), then we can get introduced to a new crew, have new adventure, and essentially start from square 1 again, since nobody there will know of the WoL other than Tiamat and her brood.

Wait is that how people are thinking of "you'll go THAT far...?" comment? I figured it was more of a storytelling/moral line than a distance one. I mean, we've literally been to another dimension, it's hard to beat going to a place that quite literally doesn't share a physical space with you for distance.
