Not only that, but the level gap between max level players and the S ranks were less. It was a 20 level gap for ARR, 10 level gap for HW.

Now it's a 30 level gap for ARR and 20 for HW. The S ranks are melting much faster.

In Endwalker it will be a 40 level gap for ARR, 30 for HW and 20 for SB.

YoshiP has said they don't want to increase the HP because they want players of the intended level to be able to participate - then those players don't really get a chance to participate because a crowd of max level players will kill a ARR S rank in a few seconds before the curious at-level player in the zone can figure out what's going on and where to go.

I won't say I disagree with "Kill on Sight" as a general game play concept for hunts but there's a problem when max level players are effectively able to lock out players of the intended level because they're killing things much too fast.

I think there's a real problem that needs to be addressed when the level difference becomes so high that multiple players could be looking at a hunt mark at the same time and not everyone gets credit because not everyone lands an initial attack at the same exact starting time. Older hunt marks need to at least be guaranteed not to die faster than a certain period of time, even if that's just a few seconds or whatnot.

Current situation in EU Light is dreadful. There is always one or two toxic player (not even spawner), pulling Level 50/60 target on sight while people are waiting. The target dies in 3 seconds. It ruins most people's game experience.

The big problem here is that if a normal person doesn't join in with nasty players, they will miss out. The current system encourages players to be toxic.

If FFXIV doesn't want to go down the same path as WoW, SE should take this seriously and as early as possible.

Even with the stat crunch at 90 I doubt it'll improve the situation with S rank hunts where a player can practically solo an S rank in 3 hits. The hunt system is a mess and a lot of people seem more inclined to support the "I found it so I don't have to share it if I don't want to" attitude and parroting they're not breaking ToS - this is an MMO game, you wanna do stuff by yourself go and play a single player game and stop ruining it for everyone else.

You're exaggerating what happens. Solo kills of S ranks are extremely rare. No one can stop other players from participating.

If you want to be killing those hunt marks with them, then you should be out there doing the hunting instead of expecting others to serve you. That's become the real problem in the community - most are waiting for someone else to spend the time doing that actual hunting instead of doing it themselves then get mad when they miss out because they couldn't be bothered.

You'd be surprised at how often the easily spawned S ranks like Nandi and Safat get picked off by randoms without anyone even knowing.

ARR S ranks only have around two million HP which gets burned through very quickly by a level 80 DPS.

I feel like the amount of effort/time involved in killing them is really disproportionate for the current reward scheme and as previously mentioned several times, not very friendly towards players who are lower-leveled.

At the end of the day, though, the only thing about hunts that is actually enforced is people attempting to grief either by resetting the hunts or making them kill people with their AoEs. Everything else is strictly a cultural thing that mostly caught on due to the fact that there's technically no limit to how many people can get full credit from a hunt due to it being enmity based.

As far as I understand the hunt concept, people have no ownership over certain enemies. There is no obligation other than what the community made up.

It's like bowing in Dark Souls pvp all over again. lol

What toxic solo hunters flooding the threads?

Few solo hunters are toxic (though I do know a couple). They're playing the Hunt the way SE designed it to be played - going out, finding the hunts then killing them. They don't harass others, unlike the entitled members of the community who feel that others should waste time waiting on their pleasure to arrive. They're marking the commonly used trackers so other hunters aren't wasting their time looking for something that can't spawn for another 40 hours.

How often have you gone out scouting for a train and conducting it? How often have you spent an hour or more trying to spawn a S rank? How often have you relayed available hunt marks? How often have you made sure the trackers are marked with the kill?

The toxic hunters are the ones who contribute nothing to the actual hunting but complain when they don't get what they want because they were too lazy to make it happen.
