[Request] Can Scholar please get Miasma back?

I don't understand this obsession with dots. I'd much rather have something interesting involving the fairy instead of another occasional Broil replacer.

I don't know what everyone else likes about dots, but the best thing about dots were that they were GCD. It's why, even though it will probably be relatively bad, I'll still play WHM over AST or SCH.

If the new fairy stuff was GCD, then, well, now you have my attention.

While I'm personally a fan of DoTs, I can understand how people might not be. My suggestion is based on something that would be simple for them to implement and would help the job, as opposed to something that would take development time to implement. They can add back old abilities on jobs right now, but they might not necessarily be able to do a soft/hard rework of a job anytime soon. If they've just given up on Scholar and are planning on reworking it completely eventually, that's fine, but I think they should at least let us know and then take some measures to make it feel better in the interim, which something minor like having Miasma to juggle again would do.

But Scholar was from the beginning a dot job, why change it? most scholars like the old dot style. if people want something simpler they have whm and to be fair the dot style wasn't hard. i can understand that they don't like the fairies swap, but the dots? it was the only way a healer had to do a different dps style.

While I wouldn't be opposed to having Miasma back on Scholar, I don't think it would solve the Broil spam problem by itself. The issue is the repetition of this filler spell, where you cast it up to 12 times in a row before you have to refresh Biolisys.

Adding another dot would at best take a couple of GCDs off Broil spam every so often as you try to align its duration with your other dot.

I would be for a skill that breaks that spam further, a very short dot, maybe 6 or 9 seconds long as to ensure it has to be reapplied much more often.

I think they would need to implement some modicum of a DPS rotation in order for that to happen: Miasma 2 as an AoE DoT on a 15s duration, Miasma on a 20s duration, Bio on a 30s duration and Shadowflare as a 60s CD. Nothing super crazy but at least it would feel busier, which is all we want really. Hell, even just the AoE DoT on a 15s CD to stack with our single target DoT would feel better.

I'm not the person you were quoting but I'd like to add my personal reasons in liking DoTs.

• It complements SCH's image of being a hybrid poison-mage
• I like seeing my debuff icon on the boss. The more the better!
• Having most of DPS source stems from DoT damage is actually more forgiving than the one nuke ala Broil which punishes you the more Broil casts you fail to squeeze in. DoT ticks while you're (not) doing something, nukes don't. Of course they should still leave at least one nuke button for us to press once we have applied all our hypothetical DoT buttons.

the old scholar had bio,bio2,miasma and bane that was our bread and butter spells, virus was awesome too. you cast the dots on a mob and spread them with Bane. Please SE bring back Dots and Bane!

This is not true.

A Biolysis is essentially a 700 potency Broil with a 30 second cooldown. An occasional Broil replacer.

A missed Broil is a missed Broil, regardless of whether a dot is ticking or not.
