I like healing. Sure, it's boring when everyone knows what they are doing and overgear the content.

But it is a lot of chaotic fun when they make mistakes, AoEs are all over the place, and you're trying to dodge and heal at the same time!

So I guess fun depends on what kind of group you get.

Sure, I wish healer had more dps options, but I don't want a healer (or a tank) to be so viable on their own that they don't need DPS in dungeons. Though that is more of an issue in WoW where where DPS are virtually unneeded.

I won't pretend healers are super good to play right now but.
    "Nearly no one".

    Can we stop exaggerating?

    Well said.

Just to add, SE is pretty much destroying any class since SB with a worst case scenario in SHB. EW will be more homogenization as well. SE needs a new team to develop and balance out the classes. The way they go is just a horrible mess.

Healers are able to solo any dungeons as much as tanks are on low level and after level X thx to massive lifeleach or a heal-action. DPS are actually "useless" in any kind out of savage raid DPS. Dungeons are a joke anyway. There are no DPS checks, enrage timer or something else. Not even heal is really needed if the tanks knows his job.

Que? What about enrage timers and mana limits?

Tanks and healers don't need DPS in dungeons.
The dungeon takes longer, but you can easily clear almost every dungeon, barring a few older ones that have a sort of dps check on some bosses, without DPS.
But that has nothing to do with how many dps skills a healer has, it's simply because casual content doesn't have hard dps requirements.

The only content where dps starts to matter and you actually need DPS players is extreme+.
DPS goes from the least important role to extremely important and noticeable if played well because endgame fights are backloaded and skipping a difficult mechanic is worth a lot. Trying to make up for others mistakes is well and good, preventing them from happening in the first place is better.

I am curious why is that.
    Any clue anyone ?
    Thanks for the hints.
Because healers are boring as sin to play, and it takes a special kind of masochism to continue playing.
Great points have already been said all around, but I'd just like to reiterate that 1 button DPS spam(and I'd really like to not go into why that's a bad thing. That argument will go nowhere) and a gluttonous amount of healing power with no place to use it results in more 1 button DPS spam and faster burnout from the sheer boredom.

Everyone is quick to confirm their bias and whine about their own problems, however, Adventurer In Need does not lead to the conclusion that "nearly no one is playing healers".

Adventurer In Need updates periodically based on what is needed to balance the queue at the start of that period. The bonus does not change until the end of that period, when a new evaluation is made. When you see Adventurer In Need (Healer), you see that you are in a X minute period when Healer is most needed. You could add 5 million healers to the queue at that point in time and it would not update until the end of the period.

If you are trying to extrapolate any kind of population data from this, you need to identify the length of the period and look at multiple periods in succession. Unfortunately, the data you get is not good enough. At most, you can claim there is a shortage of healers if most of the periods in an entire day had Adventurer In Need (Healer).

Another problem you will run into is that "most needed" is a relative term. This state is achieved by both "Need 1 tank and 2 healers" and "Need 1 tank and 20 healers".

If you're basing this on your 3-5 daily anecdotal samples, you're looking at less than 5% of the day and drawing a conclusion.

In summary, Adventurer In Need is not useful data. Your conclusion is flawed. Speculation on reason is pointless.

Healers are fun in dungeons as tanks and DPS are so boring since they removed all role responsibilities because “it’ll make endgame dungeons too hard for beginners”

Honestly depends on the content and that’s always been this games biggest sin, roles that reflect a poor loop

As someone that left during 3.x when their static broke while maining WHM, who came back for 5.x and switched over to GNB and DNC/NIN almost immediately... the answer is because healers are boring as hell to play now.

Healing is, by far, the most boring role in the game now, and the devs simply don't care.
