I think this bears repeating every few pages or so...

Delays: perfectly fine.
Delays to fix lore inconsitencies: perfectly fine especially for a story based game. I doubt yoshi p would've been the only one to notice something.
The chaos caused by waiting so long to let us know, even though its common practice to take off of work for large releases: :x that's the trouble.

I didn't know that voicing an opinion means to be a white knight. But so be it. I'm not going to withdraw my opinion just because someone on the internet disagrees with me. I stand by my words. We'll never know why they decided to delay the expansion (mind you, they can say it was story text fixes but never say about bigger issues to not worry the playerbase more than they already did with the delay), from my experience, Yoshi P has players' interests in mind and only good intentions, so I will disagree with you here. Maybe next time you shouldn't plan your life around an MMO expansion in development.

Well, great on them for catching things that need to be fixed. But damn them for the delay. :/ Finally able to use my vacation time after a year and a half and they rendered it pointless XD Guess I'll just have to spend it with the family for Thanksgiving then :/

Have to say it is a little disappointing how some are reacting to this unfortunate news. We (Japanese players) are also upset with the delay, and have said so in the thread in the JPN forums, but also remark that while it is disappointing, Yoshida-san also took responsibility like he should have and was humble about it. So, while we're disappointed, most of us also gave words of encouragement and many were worried for Yoshida-san's health, even. Then again, it is extremely rare for people to take off of real life work to play a game unless they are students/don't work, so maybe it is different for countries where taking off for expansions is the norm. The few people I know who are able to do such things are, understandably, upset - but they still aren't antagonistic or accusatory towards the FF14 team.

I took off a week too and while it sucks I'd rather wait 2 weeks (which is nothing) than have the team crunch just to meet the deadline. Yoship was extremely apologetic about it and he looked straight up exhausted, it's clear as day that he didn't want to make the decision but saw it as necessary to give US, the players, a good launching experience.
