The lesson learned here is to just never take time off for MMOs or expansions.

Occurrences like Shadowbringers going off without a hitch is a rarity. Both Heavensward and Stormblood had messy, unstable launches and a lot of people I know regret taking the PTO for them. Games make mistakes. Development hiccups happen. I know it sucks, but that's just the reality of the world.

I took 2 weeks off work for Endwalker and I couldn't be more chill, unless I was lying at the beach right now. It's a game, and more importantly, it's the finale to the current Ascian conflict. Whatever time they need to release a superior product, they can take it. They earned more than enough goodwill.

They should've said so sooner but whatever, it's just a game. A product you consume, not more than that.

With that said there's more important things than gaming plus I can actually buy the collectors edition since I was running out of money, win for me at least. Gives me enough time to purchase it.

    Not gonna lie.

Some of ya'll need to get over yourselves. You have a whole month before savage even drops and if you are as dedicated as you say you are it shouldn't take two weeks to level to 90. Even with Reaper or Sage while tending to real life priorities.

I for one appreciate a short delay. 2 plus months like the OP is suggesting is way too much. Why screw everyone because some can't play at the new launch? Does it suck it was delayed? Yea. What we are seeing is an entitlement issue.

Is it the end of the world? No. You will be okay.

December and January is a busy time for retail, and it requires full staff to avoid disruption. Many of us, kept our annual leave days, so we could play and enjoy the Endwalker story at its original release dats, this will now not happen, because of the bad decision to move it into the worst time of year for retail workers. Some like myslef won't be able to enjoy the story until at least February or March now, or to be able to keep up with savage raiding, will have to skip the story entirely, as of this poor new release.

To counter this, and stop you ruining a lot of players fun and the want to enjoy the game and story properly, you need to either honour your original release date, or the release needs to be postponed until at least February or March 2020, so the whole player base can enjoy the story without rushing or skipping, to keep up with endgame progression.

This is one of the worst decisions in SE history along with the making of "The Avengers" game.
    It's not bad at all.
If it's not ready. Then this is thier best decision.

Would much rather they take the extra time to ensure a quality product than rush it out the door and have regrets later.

Well, sucks I have to rearrange my vacation (if I can even), but it is what it is. I'd rather work and play at evenings with no problem, than have a vacations and be stack with the story at first trial cuz duty servers are down like it was with ShB.
Ah, waiting for server partys for Titania, what a memory.

Regardless of how you feel about the delay, what is really unfortunate is SE along with other companies giving similar bad news to their customers are all quickly becoming complacent with these delays. Developing a poor reputation around not being able to honor your own commitments was previously really bad for business and entirely unacceptable, and now it's just normal.

The result of things like this is future release dates mean absolutely nothing. It lets you know, or reminds you that there is an epidemic of a lack of accountability and consequence in this world. If SE knew that failure to deliver on time would result in a loss of half of their subscribers, or they would have to refund all the pre order sales, I assure you the delay would not happen.

Ultimately, I blame us, the customers. We're the ones who've become complacent. We get bad news, and we actually praise the failure and just say, "You're doing your best. I understand." There was a time where that quote was followed with, "but unfortunately, I am going to have to take my business elsewhere." It is this complacency that has allowed companies to adopt business mottos that put us, the customer that makes everything possible for them, second.

Those of you under the mindset that this is a molehill we shouldn't be making mountains out of should actually zoom out and really take in the gravity of situations like this. I would take into account how it affects everyone, and why such critical decisions are treated casually.

I’m guessing it got announced so late because they’ve been trying very hard to meet the deadline and were hoping that they’d make it so as not to disappoint their players. With Japanese work ethics I’m now even more worried about their health lol, I don’t want to know what it has cost them already trying to prevent this from happening. Whatever is causing it exactly, I have no doubt it’s for good reason.

People have adopted a cult like mentality when it comes to consumerism. I agree that we have grown complacent, every game I look forward to has become a trashheap. The only I game I look forward to is Elden Ring at this point.

I'd like to call this the overton window of gaming. Gaming companies like to test the waters and see how far they can get. In respect to SE, I don't mind the delay too much. But yes, to say defending a delay is good is ridiculous tbh.
