There's this weird dichotomy like if these two weeks didn't happen we'd have Raubahn again and it's like... if it was that bad they'd probably need more than two weeks to fix it.

Especially when Yoshida went on record to specifically say it was nothing like that, they're just running general qa late because he went over the lore with a fine toothed comb.

We don't know what's being fixed or not in reality. I made an example with R.EX, I didn't claim it would be like that if the launch wouldn't be delayed.
It could be nothing special, it could be something worth delaying. We'll never know. They want to make sure everything works, let them be.

I will probably get burned like a heathen for saying this, but I can't help but chuckling a little at people who blame SE for their now wasted vacation. I'm sorry but SE never asked you to take time off for a GAME. You decided that all by yourself. And in so doing you should know that there's always a risk (however small) that things might not go as planned. (I'll give you the fact that this is a FFXIV's first, though)

That said, I feel bad for Yoshi having to make this decision. And as much as it might suck, I do prefer this over releasing the game in a rush. But that's just me. Atleast FFXIV Dev's do truly care about their players and want to give them the best gaming experience possible. That's something a lot of other game dev's could learn from.

they said at the start of the live letter it was about story and flavor text so there is no loose ends or fore shadowing for the new stories later.

If you ever want to prove that this "community" is not the amazing, thoughtful community people claim it is, show them this thread. This thread, beyond anything I've ever read here, proves how many disgusting, judgmental, hypocritical people there are playing this game.

To the dev team, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sad, did you see Yoshi? He was so sad. The feels. My heart reaches out to him."

To the people legitimately upset they are getting screwed over because they took their own discretionary paid time off months in advance to enjoy an expansion of a game they obviously love. "Eh screw you. You don't mean anything. You're an idiot for doing so. Who cares about your feelings."

Its just a little disheartening for me. My job has been severely understaffed for almost a year ,causing mandatory OT and new hires leave right away because they didn’t sign on for no days off a month. People still have lives after all, life shouldn’t be “ work every day until you are 60-65 then you can retire and enjoy life”.

We have only recently gotten a few more people to lighten the load and I was able to request time off, haven’t had a vacation since April 2019 because of COVID, travel restrictions, and understaffing. Can’t even change my time off now because my boss already moved the schedule around last week for 11/19-11/25 for my vacation. Mine as well still take it, but nothing I can really do during that time anyway.

All good it was delayed because it was recognized EW is still behind in development, just still upsetting.

Yeah, let's be honest, this debate would have carried even outside of XIV. It is just a can of words to talk about and frankly I have enough annoyance in real life with delays.
