L o L. Im not talking down to anyone. It's simple as. Expect delays especially with the way the world is, and maybe people wouldnt be upset.

You’re telling people how to feel. That’s more or less talking down to people. If you don’t want to consider that, your first post in this thread started off with the phrase “Stop taking PTO for video games” and ended with “People should know by now”. That sounds fairly condescending, mate.

And before you say that you weren’t telling people now to feel:

Im not telling people how to feel, but they should atleast be realistic. I can't think of any MMO or patch in recent time that has come out on time.

Take time off whenever you want. Not what im saying. Just dont be upset when something doesnt go as planned.

Telling people not to be upset when plans fall through is telling people how to feel. Everyones knows that plans can fall through. For any kind of vacation/time off: going to the beach, going to another country, going to a sports game, a concert, etc.. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be upset when a wrench is thrown into their plans.

Also. Just a followup. Would 3 weeks really have made a difference if they only knew about it a week ago?..

For some, yes. Some jobs have a hard cutoff for time off requests of two weeks. My job is like that. So it would have helped me a lot more if they had told me a week sooner, actually. And I’m just one example. I’m just hopeful that my boss will be accommodating since I’ve been working so much OT lately to ensure my accounts are all in line. And helping others with their stuff.

No, people are rightfully expressing their annoyance with how bad the devs have flubbed this.

It's one thing to cut content to avoid delays. It's one thing to accept a delay in order to meet the content expectation in place. But when you cut content only to STILL delay the game at the last minute, then you messed up big time. You did the absolute worst thing you could have done in that scenario. And yes people have the right to be upset.

No one is saying you don't have the right to be upset. But if you are going to be illogical while doing so, then be prepared to be called out. Something happen and it cause the game to be delayed. It was obviously not an easy decision yet we have people here going as if that was the case. I would rather have the game delayed even at the last minute if it means a better chance of the launch being smooth. The man and his team is exhausted and they are working their a** off for our sake and people want to behave like this? Seriously? As I said I understand people are upset, I understand people are annoyed. But this behavior has blown far past the realm of absurdity.

Haven't seen this. Granted the thread is now at 20 pages so I might have missed it, but if anyone is blaming the devs then it's the minority and should not be taken into account as the voice of the complaints.

I also don't think that you have to actually directly insult the devs either, when you read how people are framing their comments it is very personal and the implications are essentially '' devs bad and incompetent screw em ''.

I'd say that people are going beyond simply being disappointed and a bit annoyed when they start going after the devs.

I also think that people are assuming a whole lot, you don't know what actually happened and what the issues really are or who's responsible.
When someone makes a mistake especially when it's unintended and unpredictable then I think it's kinda shitty to throw it in their face, especially when you're throwing your.... Upsettteneneddness around wildly when you actually don't know the details and what really happened and why.

I do think it's toxic, it's basically just venting for the sake of venting at the expense of other people about things you really don't know.

It becomes pretty ridiculous to bring that up as an argument because it had nothing to do with the delay and they can't tell the future and it's ultimately unrelated.
If anything it'd be more likely that it could've made the delay worse.

Mate. I am just explaining how they wouldn't be so disappointed, had they considered things. If that's talking down to people. Then damn the world must be a harsh place for some. If I took time off for a game.. and it got my plans all ruined, am i really allowed to be mad at the developers? I feel like it would be my fault.. for expecting something that is not in my control to go smoothly.

Maybe that phrase was worded wrongly. But still the other points of expecting delays, and people wouldn't be upset.
And yes I started my first post... off in this thread, like that. Cause you know why? someone needs to tell them. We are not far off from having people in these threads bullying the developers, to the point they CUT communication completely between the devs and the players. We are one bad incident from a developer getting death threats, them cutting communication off from the playerbase.. and then there is none. Then the game falls into chaos.

You don't have to vent on a public forum, out loud to yourself while watching the live letter would suffice. If you have a problem with people telling you to stop, then oh well so sad too bad. We can do that to you if you take issue with that then, again don't post on an open forum.

The only kind of “blame” or “fault” I’ve really seen in this thread is mostly what you voiced: people just wish the development team had given a better heads up about this. But I don’t recall seeing anyone attacking the development team personally in here. I’ve read the entire thread thus far, but maybe I missed some posts in the midst of replying.

This logic can be used against you as well: if you have a problem with people venting on a public forum (especially THIS forum, which is known for venting—heck, one of the largest threads on here is a Duty Finder venting thread), then don’t come to a public forum. You aren’t the Internet Police, and you can’t tell people not to vent online.

Besides, forums exist for discussion and feedback. Hopefully this thread can be used as something constructive for SE in the future when it comes to announcing delays—ideally to not do it so close to release.
