New people in the fight so I was doing call outs while I was main tanking. There was another mentor scholar in the fight who was verbally annoyed with the fact I was doing callouts...

Obviously they never did a mentor roulette before and just had the crown for status...

Nothing note worry about the fight and we 1 shot with no noticeable deaths.

I'm a mentor so I'll do what I can to provide new players an opportunity to survive the fight.

I really appreciate callouts even for ones I've done before because I learn something new every time. Thanks for doing those callouts.

Had a tank with 19k health and a BLM with 13k health in The Singularity Reactor during trial roulette.

Made a silly little comment that I’d never seen a tank have less health than me (I was at like 26k as MCH and the other tank at 30k).

Sprout healer says “it’s whatever, they’re new so cut them some slack.”

Run went fine, if a bit slower than normal. I just wasn’t aware that making note of low health is apparently now frowned upon.

Nearly had a (second) wipe in SoS Normal because the OT decided he'd chase me (the WHM ) around with his Braver marker, which resulted in both of us getting killed from the overlap - as well as a poor DPS who got caught in the middle. Then a couple more DPS didn't move for Blizzard Coruscant and died while the other WHM was trying to pop a raise off on me. By the time I got up, he was doing the separate stack lines and we didn't have enough people alive to take both - so she ended up eating one all alone and died right as I got back on my feet.

OT wasn't new, either, and kept moving to follow me any time I tried to move away from him. Considering we wiped the first time during Ascendance because someone didn't do the ATM in time, I'm almost convinced the dude was trolling - between that, him getting me killed with Braver, and constantly fighting the MT for aggro...

I think this attitude is part of what's causing the average level of the playerbase to not improve. Like, there are certain things that people have to do or know/be aware of at certain levels. Being new =/= being bad. You can be new and a good player. Just like you can be a veteran and be bad. It's all about the effort you put in having a decent understanding of the game and your class. Yet we have people white-knighting like the person you mentioned. If we don't point out what's being done wrong or what can be improved, then nothing will get fixed. Let's not use being new as an excuse for lack of effort or not knowing any better.

Eh, I can see how it could come across as mildly insulting, though I personally wouldn't be offended. It doesn't take much to set some people off though. It just seems like something so small and insignificant to get worked up over as far as the healer is concerned, especially when they are not even the player in question responding. I'd probably share your sentiment if I was in the group though, whether I said anything or not.

Some people want to be main tank so freaking bad. Was in Ifrit HM. Saw the other tank had 2/3 my HP. Not a problem. I put tank stance on while they were loading. They didn't have it on when the gate dropped and I proceeded to pull the boss and move into position. They put their stance on and stood near me. No problem as they won't be able to pull off of me even with with stance on. They continued to get hit by every single cleave. 30s later and I lose aggro and the boss spins to the side. I bury my head in shame that I lost aggro to that tank with their gear. Wait, of course they provoked. I just provoked back and continued facing the boss out of the arena.

Whatever. Infernal nails come and instead of helping they just remain by my side, getting hit by every single cleave. Usually I don't care if a tank provokes immediately on the pull, I just drop stance and let them have it. Waiting for a while and then provoking off the tank is just rude. Stick to 4 man if you can't handle someone else stealing your thunder and being off tank is below you. My comm went to the healer who had to do more work of course.

Unfortunately, it's becoming the norm these days, just as it's the norm in wow. :/

So there's an obvious disconnect here where people who play more casually tend to really enjoy the conversation but people who run 30 roulettes a day or whatever just wanna get it over with. As someone on the Astrope grind right now, the last thing I wanna do is individually greet and goodbye every party I see. If there's no immediate need for my input, I'm just going to be quiet and try to complete the duty asap.

it's got nothing to do with WoW. why even bring it up?

    Rent free in people's heads.

Obviously, anything that doesn't meet their approval or ideas of how anyone should behave means they have to have come from WoW. /s

As I've said in the past, no one is entitled to greetings. People do not have to talk to you. If that bothers you that badly, I don't really know what to say other than get over it.

Some people just don't want to talk and instead want to get through stuff and get on with their day, no matter how short or long something might take. Some people can't type at all, or that fast. Some people have social anxiety and prefer not to. There are a number of reasons people won't bother greeting anyone at the start of a run, and getting so upset about it you resort to acting like it's somehow a terrible and bad behavior from That Other MMO does not paint you in that good a light.

Yeah...If I'm running a roulette I'm probably not there to socialize, unless I'm running it with friends in which case some friendly banter ensues. I'll say "Hello" or "Hey" or maybe a simple "o/" if I'm feeling lazy at the beginning and a quick "Thanks all" at the end. If it was a particularly rough time I will usually just leave without saying a word though. lol That's about it. Like you said, it has nothing to do with WoW. I just want to get my tomes and gil is all.
