They work with the float glitch though if I remember right, they require smaller increments than we can use with most items. It's been a while since I did it so I may not be remembering correctly.
I used some on my 2nd floor by placing and just manipulating/sliding them to fit.

You can move every single item, but also prepare everything on base level, and lift all up at once with the loft - well, at least what finds it's place on the limited area.
For details, you can still use the Riviera shelves.
I'll give that a try. Being new to the whole mechanic, I've just been trying with single items and haven't been able to get it work. I don't know if it's me not knowing where the lifting object (shelf, etc) has to be placed relative to the hit box of the item being lifted, or if it's my high ping. Having tried various positions of the lifting object, I'm starting to think it's my ping interfering with the whole "hit escape immediately" thing.
You need to place the lift-helper (aka Riviera-shelf) directly under the center of the wished item - where the cross or circle is while you have it in target.
The tolerance of the lifting isn't too high. With starting the proces it's around half of the board, after some steps you can turn the steps into full board height. Also some furniture acts more special than others, even working with only quarter height.
The ping isn't too interesting. Just that the shelf is placed from inventory (not storage). Aim it right above the ground, place it, and hit escape right after
Relocated and redid my house recently. I always like to get as much usage of space as I can in a house, especially for a cottage so there's a lot packed into it but I'm really happy with how it came out.
Anyone is welcome to come by Mateus Goblet ward 4 plot 27. Some highlights
