I want to also point out that side jobs don't have to be ironically limited to single roles; for instance, Blue Mage is also currently playable as a tank or healer role, not solely a DPS role. Is Black Mage a "limited job" because it can only be a DPS caster? Could Scholar be considered a "limited job" since it's only categorized as a healer? Blue Mage can fill in for any of the major three roles, which is something that none of the other three jobs do to a significantly notable degree... and before anyone brings it up, no, Summoner having a raise ability or Red Mage having a single healing spell is not equivalent in terms of the amount of role-specific actions that Blue Mage has for tank, healer, and DPS roles.

Again, just because a job has unique content and mechanics available to it doesn't mean that "limited" is the best label for it. Blue Mage has a unique method of learning spells, it has a larger total selection of actions that it can choose between, it has access to unique pieces of content like the Masked Carnivale and blue log challenges, and it's less limited when it comes to role assignments since it can be a DPS, healer, or tank.

The label "limited job" in many cases is misleading, negative, and extremely subjective. There's some content that Blue Mage can't participate in, but there's conversely some content that only Blue Mage can participate in, and there are unique gameplay mechanics that only Blue Mage has access to. If this is considered limited, then I could easily make similarly subjective arguments for other existing jobs as well.

Calling 2 slices of bread with some lettuce in between a "Special Sandwich!" doesn't change the fact that it's missing everything else that makes a sandwich interesting. Blue mage being banned from playing with others in current content feels just like that.

If anything, it would make more sense to drop the word "job" from the title and rename it to "Advanced Minigame!" because that's all it is-when it should have been a full fledged job with its added gimmick of learning spells from monsters.

Depends on what kind of sandwich you want.
I, personally, find BLU much more interesting than BLM.

And BLM actually was able to participate in more than just a carnival this expansion. You got...a week or two of fun from the time the Blue patch updates launches to when everyone abandons the job again. I got to do Bozja, raids, and the msq with full jobs across my main and my alts. I personally find that more interesting than collecting 100 versions of the same potency attack spell in order to do the carnival and old fights I already cleared when they were current content.

So yeah, Advanced Minigame is sounding a lot more accurate.

This it it. This is the solution. Letting advanced jobs group up with each other, have their own duty finder, participate in current msq, etc. Don't have to worry about balancing 'full' jobs and everyone gets something good. All I want is to be able to enjoy my favorite job in the content I like doing.

I wasn't commenting on whether that's a more or less accurate name lol.
In fact, that's the only part of your post I wasn't responding to.

Ah. There may have been a misunderstanding about my suggestion. Advanced jobs wouldn't be isolated from normal jobs in any way, shape, or form. The Advanced tag would only be indicative of such jobs not following the usual cookie cutter formula one would expect from having played other jobs. Spell learning being a prime example. They may have specially tailored content as well, but outside of that, they would be just like any other job in terms of balance and what content they can access.

jokes on you, thats even better sounds less likely though in terms of what the dev team would actually do for limited jobs lol
