I don't mean to argue at all, I wish to just bring some attention to the "issue".
So maybe it'll be discussed, things can be changed. I know it's a super long shot, but if you don't try...
My points are:
- Please repeat old events yearly, such as All Saints Wake, Valentione's Day, Little Ladies' Day. Yearly. Let people enjoy it. Old players and new players alike.
- Please bring back old items. Make events build on themselves year by year. Let people collect old(er) items too.
If they don't have the time, manpower, resource? Cool. Just give us the items from the previous events.
I am simply a bit disgruntled about the current trend.
Instead of let's say 10 items, we get maybe 1 hat, and if you wish to enjoy the festivities? Well, time to hit up the Mog Station.
Maybe my assumption about the resources required is totally wrong.
I admit that I have no information if bringing in event decor and the old items are troublesome or hard.
Ie.: Making an old event happen, or an event just happens in general.
IF it is, I am sorry. (but even then, if they do happen, add previous items please?)
I've spent a small fortune on the base games, expansions, subs, retainer subs, mog station items, like so many of us. It's not that I want to be cheap, want to save money by having them come in events. Like, if someone is "cheap", they won't get the items this way either. If they want it now for a glam? They'll just hit up the Mog Station way before the item (our theoretical "old items too") event happens. It was just such a fun experience when people were exploring all the items, like the Songbird outfits, emote. Or recently the Regalia, everyone messing with it. A good friend of mine came back to the game (and has been playing for years now) because of the Songbird event back then.
With that said, thank you all for reading my post, my thread and chiming in - I truly appreciate it.

Halloween came from a mashup of various pagan traditions that Christians later co-opted, as they often did with any other local traditions when they were trying to convert new populations (when they didn't just send in soldiers, of course). Irish and Celtic traditions like Samhain are the best known.

Events do repeat each year with last year and this being the exceptions because of yeah the worldwide pandemic that is still currently causing issues, in fact the game goes even further than just repeating an event and always features a new (albeit trivial) storyline to accompany it and even rearranges decorations in some spots so they're not carbon copies like is done in FFXI. Crossover events are the odd ones out in this regard however.
So maybe the reason our seasonal events got sparse besides COVID is that they don't just flip a switch for seasonal events and actually create new content each time for it beyond the rewards.
The one thing I will agree with is that I wish XIV did what XI does with previous seasonal event rewards and have them be purchasable from a vendor with gil rather than go into the mog station for real money. But that ship has long since sailed and it's unlikely it'll ever change.

To the OP, the cash shop screwed events. Under the excuse so everyone can get items they monetized past events. If they had kept the original system where you could always earn past events. Which would make the prize pool bigger every year. Also if they had time crunches because of any number of reasons they could reuse old events. But they saw a quick buck and no forward thinking. As they could have any number of set backs. But cash now is better then cash lost in the future.

Yeah, but it's only really popular (and in that form) in America. It has no meaning at all in Japan.Halloween came from a mashup of various pagan traditions that Christians later co-opted, as they often did with any other local traditions when they were trying to convert new populations (when they didn't just send in soldiers, of course). Irish and Celtic traditions like Samhain are the best known.
So heres the thing people would be understanding completely if they didnt do the xmass one and other events like that because it shows they are really having issues. But if you just skip the one based on samhein then no
Not much changed from october to December in some cases it got worse in December.
As its my favorite holiday(the only one i respect and follow) society as a hole dismisses it and puts it down to all about candy.
Its not the day has a true meaning but its ignored.
Personally i feel like its unfair to not do it then go do a xmass one and others.
I mean hell i had to skip school in hs"elementry to celebrate the day correctly while society gives 2 weeks for xmass and one for thanksgiving.
Point is people have no respect for samhain and that is frustrating to no end

Lot's of weirdness going on here. As multiple people have said, they are doing a Halloween event this year, it's just been pushed back. They didn't cancel it and aren't skipping it. Also "Halloween" doesn't technically exist in Eorzea (and to some extent time doesn't either) so when the event happens is when it's All Saints Wake.
They do run events every single year. Yes, due to COVID, some were missed last year. But we also had reruns of the FF15 event and the Yokai Event to compensate. The Yokai Event did add new stuff, and the FF15 event was brought back almost purely based on fan demand alone.
Why not just skip the event if it's going to be late? Because then you'll have people complaining just like in this thread that they're skipping events, ignoring some holidays over others, cutting content, etc.
Why not rerun the same events every year if it's that hard to make new ones? Because then people will complain that they are skimping on content and not bothering to update things or do new things.
They really can't win what ever choice they make.
Why not re-offer the previous year's items in game instead of in the cash shop? Because it makes them money. I mean, there's not really much more to it than that. At the very least the items are usually fairly cheap compared to the fully cash shop designated items, but they've long since set the precedent and they're not going to change it now.
