What you display seems right, the most straight forward way of pulling with a ranged and then follow it up with aoe.
Perhaps your ilv is wonky?

What most ppl will be using is:

50:130 ilv
55:140 ilv
59:145 ilv
60:270 ilv

because chances are ppl get synced down from roulettes. All 10s the jump is massive.

You can opt to do a more efficient pull style, which is face pulling (or provoking from a distance) and straight going into aoe.
But this is something you should do when you know the dungeon and the pulls, or been tanking for a while.

Realistically i can imagine 2 things, regen on pull can greatly offset a new tank because each tic is basically a action the healer does which causes a treat build-up.
Or you run into a physical ranged who just goes ham on pull, if that's the case ... its on the dps, there's no reason to spike single mobs on pulls.

Also remember 3 or more mobs > Full time aoe combo, 2 mobs, dot em with goring blade. Goring blade is very backwards from 54 to 60 when you gain Royal Authority. Its a dot, but the hit is doing more dmg then rage of Halone, so its optimal to spam your dot combo over and over clipping the duration.

If you have a few more details like perhaps the classes you lose hate against, maybe during the pull? Or when you arrive on the spot you want to kill stuff, also let us know your Ilv.
