Updates to the Prohibited Activities in FINAL FANTASY XIV and Account Penalty Policy

Good to see they are finally doing something about run sellers, shame about catering to the leeches and screwing good players even more.

It is prohibited to make statements such as the following examples to try to kick someone from the party, content, community, etc. as if they are not qualified to participate. If a report has been filed and the prohibited activity is confirmed, a penalty will be issued.

"If you can't do the mechanic well, maybe you shouldn't bother joining the party."
"If you're going to talk like that, why don't you just quit?"
"If you don't understand that, you'd be wise to leave the party."
"Let's ignore them."
"Let’s leave [person] out."
"It's not worth wasting our time, you should quit."
"Don't join if your equipment is that bad/such a low item level."

I think these changes are good. The stronger stance against toxicity and especially stalking behavior is much appreciated.

The run selling doesn't affect me as I'm nowhere near that level, but I can understand how selling runs can mess with IG economy and the community at large. It's about the strongest stance they can take against it.

This is apparently a reportable offense by Player A.

Even if this was true, (I honestly don't think anyone, ever, would report this) putting a spotlight on a specific player is a toxic thing to do. People mess up, but blatantly pointing out a singular player as a problem encourages aggro from the rest of the party. In any case I think it's best to OFFER advice, but don't give it unless they ask.

Ramuh EX is a great example. It's a bad thing to say "Tank, you need to get lightning orbs or else the boss will simply kill you again"?

That's just looking at things in black and white now. Don't know why people keep acting like 'oh no things are gonna get so bad when X is happening'.

Just know when you're being a tool or not and things should be good? But a lot of people don't like to bring that kind of common sense into the game sometimes, maybe it'll actually make people think.

Ironically we could protest and queue to some dungeons in crap gear and no jobstone.
There's nothing against it and no one should force me to use my best gear, right?

Good thing it's just making a commentary about "You shouldn't do X, your gear is bad" but you can suggest to improve their gear.
And nothing forces you to res them if they keep getting ko'd to AoEs

I suspect a lot of the concern is coming from the unfortunate trend of many corporations refusing to acknowledge that, quite often in the modern day, there are individuals and groups who deliberately claim to be upset by something due to a gleeful desire to see how many people they can see punished for slights that are arguably unworthy of punishment in the first place.

Personally I don't believe for a second that anyone should be punished for quietly leaving a duty for whatever reason. They can be replaced. Maybe something came up. Maybe they calculated that it wouldn't be good for them to force themselves to spend an hour wiping on Ramuh EX because they already had a long and hard day at work. An argument can be made in regards to it being best not to sign up for a roulette in such circumstances but at the same time...one would find it difficult to prove intent.

Ya consindering things irl pop up or the group itself is upseting me so i have to leave to avoid conflict...

Quitly leaving should never be punished because what am i to do when the group is really upseting me turn around and say something that will get me in trouble -.-

I think this rules are just stupid as they seem like "fantasy"

The fantasy of every group is nice and kind and if someone says something or leaves to not put up with its their fault.

As for the "dont be rude" while truth this leads to gang ups.
What I mean is it puts people in uneasy situations where a group of 3/2/12 etc can gang up on one person who now has to fear leaving to avoid huge proplems.

And ya ive had some of that happan in dungeons

I'm honestly so confused right now lol. How is this a problem. How is anyone really typing "well I guess we can't talk anymore!!". ???? Was your default always to insult strangers or something?? When you bump into someone in the supermarket, do you turn around and tell them "Stop leaving your house if you're so bad at walking you can't even do it straight!!" ? I bet not, because you'd come home with a limp so fast-I really just dont get it. If the realization that you cant put someone down for making a mistake is this debilitating to you then yeah, maybe you shouldn't be joining random parties and exposing your angry nasty attitude to sprouts or returners or people who maybe have an injury that limits their mobility or whatever other reason a person could have to make a mistake. You're not entitled to snapping at people because you're impatient and think you're the center of the universe. Yeah, maybe you should just stay in your little safe haven of confirmed great players. Please do in fact. Please leave everyone else alone lol. It's clear as day you can help someone along just fine, you literally just can't berate them while you're doing it. and If this rule feels like a threat to you, you need to ask yourself why and think about it for like 12 minutes at least. At least acknowledge to yourself that you're kinda mean and that people have the right to avoid you over it.

Anyways, everything looked great to me! Especially the change in the penalty points system, I think that's very fair and spot on with the way that it can encourage a good change in behavior vs making the person feel like there's nothing left to lose anyway.
