Well most dungeons ate so easy you don't need any thing. You can do a no healer or no tank or onlly tank or onlly dps.The tank leads the party because it's the most beneficial not because it's their job.
Having a tank in this game makes certain dungeons easier but it is by no means required.
A tank pulling does a few things: It centers the damage on one party member who just so happens to be the tankiest. This largely removes attention required from the healer to look out for split chip damage on the party and also makes it so they don't have to worry about getting aggro themselves. Because the damage is centered this allows for larger pulls because it becomes a hps vs dps situation on the tank's health bar.
There is no pull in this entire game that requires a tank, most bosses don't even require a tank in content that requires a "pull".
If given a choice in the queue/roulette system you would probably see more people simply going 4 dps, 3 dps & 1 tank, 3 dps & 1 healer than the usual 2 dps & 1 tank & 1 healer.
Take lead, pull more, take point. It's all sophistry & semantics.
The job of the tank is to benefit the party by holding aggro that's it, the game doesn't care how efficient you are at it just like it doesn't care how efficient you are at healing.
Queueing for tank does not make you the leader of anything.
