Yes you can, I did it tonight so I don't know what you mean. I usually debuff him with riot blade when he first lands in the middle, and then run up and pull off the combo while he is in the air.You actually can attack him while he's in the middle of doing jumps/dashes, but only with AoE attacks that don't require a target (Blizzara/Aura Pulse/Leg Sweep/etc.). Just get close enough to the center and you'll hit him since his hitbox defaults in the center during the times in which he is un-targetable.
I do it all the time to get a free combo during dashes: Hit True Strike right when he jumps as you run to safety. His hitbox will default in center facing towards whoever has hate, thus he will be behind you, lined up for a frontal hit. Right as he makes his 2nd dash, run out to the center, hit Leg Sweep to hit him again and run back to safety. Use a few buffs and get set up behind him for when he lands and use Doom Spike. Fun.
Still, you cannot target him when he jumps to center until after the server has registered Hellfire. You lose target when he does so, just like any other time he jumps. Thus, you can't hit him with any target-required ability/attack after he jumps unless you did right when he jumped and you're simply riding the server lag.
On topic, none of the current skill descriptions say the player is immune to anything while in mid-air. Elusive Jump implies it, kinda', but we don't know which this is. Doesn't necessarily look like it was triggered by an attack here.
Not going to continue the debate any longer in an inappropriate thread, but I am always standing right next to him when he's in the center, charging Hellfire. I mash F8 (target nearest NPC) and it never successfully targets actually him until as soon as Hellfire damage registers.
It sounds like you're simply using the lag to your advantage and hitting Riot Blade right after he jumps while your client still thinks he's right in front of you... like I mentioned. Your target on Ifrit is lost when he jumps to center. So, you either use lag to get a hit in right when he jumps, or you wait until after Hellfire goes off. That is all.
Keeping the same casting animations for Black Mage seems lame here, where you have this reddish glow for awhile feeding into a spectacular Freeze spell. That doesn't make sense to me. If you're too lazy to change the animation, at least change the color? Either to suit the spell, or.. If you want something uniform, how about darker, more ambiguous colors?
I really liked the animation itself, along with WHM's, but unfortunately this sticks out like a sore thumb.
Wrong place for this, but I'd kind of hoped BLM casting animation would look more darkness-based, and WHM casting would be holy-looking... I guess it'll just be like XI, with two categories. I can live with that, guess. ^^;Keeping the same casting animations for Black Mage seems lame here, where you have this reddish glow for awhile feeding into a spectacular Freeze spell. Dont like DRG because, well its just jump, so the whole animation is you not seeing your char for a few sections then a small little flashy when he lands. But I can deal with that.
Love BLM/WHM
My fave is Bard, and Pug i think looks silly.
well, thats the beauty of Jump!!
but i hope little more explosion when he lands![]()
Aion Zwei - Masamune
It's only Jump, not a weapon skill...
you mean like this?
How high can you jump, Kain?
It would be cool if you could see the DRG all the way up in his "Jump" if you were watching from a distance!
