I switched a couple Weeks ago to main Sam. I dont play multiple jobs and just focus on my main. In the last few days I've been getting a lot of commendations and I'm not sure why. Thanks I guess?![]()
Was tanking Omega-F during the split, and both I and my co-tank on M had eaten some vuln stacks by accident. Meteors go out, I get real low on health while the healers are both focused on the WAR and am out of defensive CDs - and she's casting LB.
Bless that WHM we had, because literally the moment I shot myself with Superbolide and dropped, I got hit by a Bene. Not a panic Bene, not a Bene that just conveniently went off right after my health dropped, but a timed Bene to coincide with the moment I used my invuln. Absolutely love when healers are that in tune with what a tank is planning to do during a TB like that.
Here are a few quickies:
I queued scholar on leveling and got stuck in Doma with GNB in full 60 gear. The worst part was probably the superbolide that happened when they were one on one with the colossus at the first corner.
I queued tank to leveling and found myself in Malikah's Well with people in all 70 gear.
I queued dps for Ghimlyt and our tank (DRK) never put stance up, all the way through the first boss, at which point I ate a penalty.
Amarout farming started off nicely yesterday morning, but later I got to witness a tank get wrecked by the building collapse on the first boss. Another time, all 3 teammates where nowhere near cover for falling sky. Finally, an intrepid healer waltzed off the edge on the first Apokalypsis.
Lots of things can happen in Dohn Mheg.
It really depends on how well you can play there. If you're a WHM who has high DPS Uptime and can balance healing and DPSing generally for a lot of Holy at a time, it's not so bad.
But it can still get really dicey if the tank doesn't interrupt the Fauth's tethers. Those tethers give the mobs damage up - which chunks them real fast. Ideally the tank will interrupt this, or you'll otherwise wipe if the DPS can't do good DPS because the tank, even if they're a good player, will inevitably run out of mitigations from the heavy hits if they want to coordinate with you.
Note, worse tanks, worse healers, and worse DPS will make Dohn Mheg a living nightmare if you don't interrupt that tether, because it usually makes people do small pulls as a result for overestimating the damage there. Other than that.... it's about as high damage as Holminister Switch imo.
Syrcus Tower, getting my three tomes: Notice my aspected benefic is shielding some guy for over half his HP, or his full HP when it crits. See that he has a third of the HP of the rest of the group and inspect him. Dude is wearing a mix of level 20-40 items. Same run we get to Xande and a BLM who I've been watching spam blizzard the entire run kindly informs the raid not to pull and wait for sprouts. The guy was level 80 and in decent gear so he should have known better than to blizzard spam. He was the lowest dps in the group, below even the guy in level 40 armor.
How are you finding time to watch what others are doing in a dungeon while playing? Hmm? How do you know the BLM is the lowest DPS in the group?Syrcus Tower, getting my three tomes: Notice my aspected benefic is shielding some guy for over half his HP, or his full HP when it crits. Enjoy Life you only get one.
This actually bothers me more than I'd like it to. A lot of people have tunnel vision and don't look around them to see what's happening. I can understand new players being overwhelmed, but after playing the game for a while, surely you can observe your surroundings a bit and sometimes adjust to what's going on.
The Glamour Effect: That awkward moment when you realize you know FFXIV's gear pieces better than your own wardrobe X'D
There's something called threat, unless you have your head on the desk and pray for the pain to end from running a duty with players in lv 40 Armor. There is a decent chance you eventually target the boss.
Now generally speaking #8 on hate list should be thee off tank (depends on stance or not) or a healer, if your blm is #8 and you look over and he's juggling ice, you don't a calculator to know something is going wonky.
Sarcasm aside, its very simple to see who's acting up, a healer will ALWAYS have an eye on the health bars, and these health bars also show what ppl cast, so if its always blizzard ... i rest my case
