Even though my native language is portuguese, I don't agree that if we gained a new localization it should be in portuguese. I would rather have it turn into spanish since it would reach way more people (most of latin america, spain and a good deal of USA citizens). To be honest, I never understood why this game has a localization for german/french and not spanish. I mean, the more, the merrier, however it's an odd decision to exclude this language from the list.

Now, at least an east coast server would be heaven, really, and even USA players could benefit from it.

Blame EU laws. From what I understand, to sell the game in the EU, German and French are the two required languages. Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and anything else is not required.

Mhmmm that makes sense, since I reckon that GW2 also has these localizations as well. That's interesting to know! Thank you. It always seemed like a weird marketing decision for me.

There is, obviously, no such law.

It's a matter of money, as always, and SE is notoriously greedy. For costly projects like MMOs, it makes sense to prioritize your biggest markets first.

That's why, 99% of the time, non-MMOs games are either only in English (when they are very niche games) or in FIGS (French, Italian, German, Spanish). Less frequently you might get localisations in smaller languages like Dutch, Portuguese or Polish etc.
